I have been suffering for years with UTIs after sex. I am a microbiologist so I tried to avoid antibiotics as much as I could, but unfortunately most of the time the only solution was antibiotics. I have tried to urinate before and after, to drink lots of water after...everything!!! Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't... Sick of these UTIs, I did a search online for an alternative. I knew that cranberry was effective but didn't try because too much sugars in this juice BUT when I came across D-Mannose (sugar found in cranberry and other plants), that is mostly eliminated from your body in urine, then I gave it a try!!!
E. coli is responsible of 90% of UTIs, this bacteria can attach itself to the bladder thanks to her pili, and that's when the discomfort starts...
D-Mannose is a sugar that goes directly in the bladder and can attach itself to the pili of bacteria!!! Basically, if D-Mannose is present when the bacteria arrive, then they can't attach to the bladder but to the D-Mannose, and they are flushed out when urinating... If you take D-Mannose when you already have an infection, then the same thing happens...the D-Mannose attach to the bacteria (that's why it's important to wait for one or two hours before urinating), and they are flushed out when urinating!!! Also, I read a couple articles showing this in the scientific literature!

I had a UTI yesterday after intercourse, I took 2 capsules after and lots of water...The day after I took 6 capsules at 8am, at 12pm, at 7:00pm still with lots of water... In the afternoon, I felt it was working but at 9pm, it was worst... I was confused and upset!!! But I went online again and found out that when you take D-Mannose you need to let it in your body at least for one hour without drinking!!!! Here is my mistake!!! I was actully flushing it with all the water I drank all day! I also found out that the dose is important, between 3 to 5G!

So I took 10 capsules (5G) a 10pm, and didn't drink any water... After 1 hour, I felt the discomfort was going away... I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!
I start drinking 2 hours later, and went to the bathroom, and checked my urine with MultiStix 10 SG strips, and SURPRISE: no more leucocytes, and way less blood!!! YES, THIS PRODUCT REALLY WORKS!!!! I LOVE IT!
I tested my urine again firt thing in the morning, and only some blood is present, so I took 6 capsules (3G) this morning, and will take 6 tomorrow also to make sure it's gone... but I can feel it is! I know by heart this awful feeling in your bladder, and now it's gone...I am fine! AWESOME!
Next time, I have sex, I will try to take 6 capsules before sex, and 6 after and we'll see...:-)
This product is a lifesaver for WOMEN!
I recommend it to anyone with UTI problems!

I tried this product after suffering for years with recurrent UTI infections and repeatedly taking antibiotics. I finally went to the urologist and was prescribed medication that I had to take for 3 months straight. I was fine for a couple of years and than BAM!!! I got another one and wound up on antibiotics again!!! I began to search for a better alternative to antibiotics just in case I got another infection and I found D-Mannose by Solaray. Sure enough I began to feel the start of another infection and instead of running to the doctor I tried about 3 of these little miracle pills. It stopped the infection DEAD in its tracks!!! No antibiotics needed!!! If you suffer from re-current bladder infections than this product is a must!!! It works!!! No side effects or anything just pure relief in less than 4 hours!!!!

I have used these d-mannose capsules and also the powder of another brand and the powder is SO much better. I am not sure if it is the brand, the amount, or the form of delivery but I have had much more luck with Clear Tract powder than anything else. If you are spending the money anyway, do yourself a favor and buy what works best.

D-mannose does work by the way. I use it along with UTI Clear tincture from Native Remedies and I only get 2 infections a year these days, a far stretch from the 12 a year I used to get.

One of the best uses for D-mannose and the tincture is to combat antibiotic resistance. If you take an antibiotic, make sure to take maintenance doses of the d-mannose and UTI for a few weeks afterwards. That way a new infection won't get the chance to start. Keep these things in your medicine cabinet at all times so you can start using it as soon as an infection comes on.

I had a UTI from about November until the middle of April that no antibiotics could get rid of. Seriously I had taken just about every single one available. In April my husband got a new job and we had to move so our insurance won't start up for a bit. Of course that scared me because of the fact that I would get no relief from the UTI. Just a few days before we moved I got new antibiotics that worked okay but soon enough the burning and pressure returned. I remembered reading about D-mannose before but had never tried it. It seemed like I'd tried every natural "cure" in the past with no luck. So why would this work? Well, I found this product and Im so glad that I ordered it! My UTI went away and hasn't come back at all. I didn't even take that many and the infection is just gone. What a relief...if you're suffering from an e-coli bladder infection, get this. You won't regret it.

I talked to my urologist about this product after my niece said she used it to clear up bladder infections, and also a kidney infection. He said it can't hurt. He described it as a large molecule sugar which flushes out your system. It is not an antibiotic, it is more of an inhibitor that prevents infections or helps clear them out. It is worth a try if you are having trouble with urinary track infections. It seems to be of more interest to women than to men, but possibly some men would find it useful (particularly if undergoing treatment for prostate problems, or other problems requiring catheters).

I was having consistent bladder infections and my doctor reccomended this product. That was over 6 months ago. If I take it every day, I have no problems with my bladder. I have chronic lymes disease and it can be very hard on a womans bladder but D-Mannose has been a lifesaver...I just really wish it wasn't so expensive. If you have bladder or UTI problems, give this product a shot.

I recently had a UTI that was so subtle I thought I could go the 'natural' route..... ouch, it just got worse. I took a round of antibiotics and throughout noticed I never really felt any relief; there was still some discomfort all throughout the antibiotics. I then started taking Uva Ursi, drinking cranberry juice, and using NOW D-Mannose powder for an additional week (the powder surprisingly did not work---maybe because it's a year old). The Uva Ursi worked, but it's a hardcore herb that you're not supposed to take longer than 5 days, and I started feeling the UTI come back whenever I stopped taking it. Enter this product---my discomfort went away after ***1 serving***. And this was after driving myself nuts trying to get rid of a low-grade UTI that got better and worse but never fully went away for 2-3 weeks. Thank god, I feel so much better now.

I am not a frequent UTI sufferer, but I do tend to get one about once a year or so, and when I do...not a pleasant experience as anyone who has suffered from a UTI already knows. In the past, I used to go to the doctor (because, hey, that's what you do when you're sick), and it never failed to amaze me that his ONLY solution to a UTI is always ANTIBIOTICS. I hate antibiotics because they often do more harm than good (unless of course you have a very serious infection) -- they not only kill off the bad bacteria, but also all of the friendly bacteria that help to keep your body working at optimum levels (plus they give me tons of horrible side effects). I used to ask my doctor why there was no alternative treatment -- surely people managed to treat UTIs in the days before antibiotics -- but never got a satisfactory answer.

And then I found d-mannose.

I've never had side effects and boy does it work. I'm not a doctor, so take my advice with a HUGE grain of salt, but for me it works best to take a large dose the first few times -- I take 4,000 mg to start and then cut back from there, and I stay on it for at least 4-5 days after the symptoms go away just to make sure the infection is totally gone. I also find that it works best if you give it a chance to work it's way through your system before you flush it out, so take the capsules but then wait an hour or so before you drink any large amounts of water.

Good luck to any UTI sufferers looking for an antibiotic free way of kicking the infection!

PS: Some people say it doesn't work for them. D-mannose only works on UTIs caused by e.coli bacteria. I've read that 90% of UTIs are caused by e.coli, so it d-mannose doesn't work for you, it's likely that your UTI is one of the 10% not caused by e.coli.

In February 2014, I came down with a terrible UTI. I went to the doctor after I began having flank pain and suspected it had gone to my kidneys. They did a urine culture and told me I did not have a UTI but prescribed me antibiotics at my insistence. It got better but since then I have noticed a sulphur smell every time I void and often have pain and burning. I started taking this 4 days ago and the relief was almost instantaneous. I no longer notice the sulphur smell and haven't had any pain or burning. I am going to continue taking this until the bottle is gone and then never be without it at the first sign of a UTI. Screw modern medicine and overpriced doctor's visits and tests. This WORKS!
