Book Description

J. Ranade Workstation Series July 1995
Readers of this guide will gain a firm grasp of the internal structure and design philosophy of the Sun OS 5.x Operating System known as the Solaris 2.x. It's the only reference on Sun's unique threads model available to the public, and it comes complete with all necessary code samples on an accompanying disk. Coverage encompasses every major sybsystem of the Solaris 2.x operating system, as well as non operating systems topics such as networking. Emphasis on practice instead of theory provides real-world guidance on basic kernel operation, thread architecture, multi-processor design, implementation of virtual memory, paging and swapping, process management, file management, and transport independent network access.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only game in town, as far as I know, May 23, 1998

This review is from: Solaris 2.X: Internals and Architecture (J. Ranade Workstation Series) (Paperback)
Not a great book, but it's the only book I've found on Solaris 2.x internals.

Writing is only fair, and the text is full of spelling errors and other aggravating typos. Author does a pretty good job of explaining the differences between Solaris 2.x and other versions of UNIX.
