5.0 out of 5 stars ..::A must addition for any NewAge/Jazz collector::..
Solas is wonderful and smooth, all of the tracks are as good as the next. Ronan Hardiman takes on a feel good trip and dose not stop. I could really feel his power in all of the tunes as you will also. The hard beats with soft whispery vocals is a awesome sensation. 3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing compared to "Lord of the Dance"
Compared to the moving, complex counterpoint melodies in "Lord of the Dance", the music on this solo album falls way short of the promise. I guess Enya fans will like it. Breathy female vocals and a home-organ boom-chicky-chick underbeat.

Solas is wonderful and smooth, all of the tracks are as good as the next. Ronan Hardiman takes on a feel good trip and dose not stop. I could really feel his power in all of the tunes as you will also. The hard beats with soft whispery vocals is a awesome sensation. If I had to compare (witch is hard, because Hardiman has a style of his own) I would say this CD is a cross between Robert Miles, Enigma, and Enya. Track No. 7 - "Angel" placed me in a zone I never felt before and I must say it was great. I collect mostly Contemporary Jazz music and a NewAge CD every once in awhile, but I'm not disappointed with Solas and very pleased to have it part of my collection. I highly recommend you add Solas to your collection.

If you do decide to buy "Solas" and you like it, then I would also recommend you listen to "The Best Of Cusco" by Cusco.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a discovery!, August 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
Iam a native of Zambia in Central Africa. I have a great bias towards contemporary jazz but lately I have found myself sampling some Higher Octave and New Age Music which I find enjoyable. My new age inclination has been influenced by legends such as Andreas Vollenweider and Hillary Stagg. The other day I went into a used CD store and accidentally picked Solas by Ronan Hardiman. Believe me I have no regrets. I play it when Iam driving to work and I never leave it in my car but carry it to my office to play it on my computer the whole day. Song # 4 in particular just sends me to my own world. I wish to emphasize to all New Age fans that this is a must for your music collection. We cant wait for the next cd for this artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solace, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
I've had this CD for almost 6 years now and it just keeps getting better and better. All the tracks are perfect and seamlessly merge into one another. The female vocals are ethereal and the music heavenly.
This music will evoke soft emotions, induce a warm feeling, paint a surreal soundscape and make everything beautiful.
Track#3: Dreaming is awesome.

Great to fall asleep to, pleasant, serene and placid music. Helps the mind, body, and soul heal, relax, or be helped. You will enjoy if you like Enya.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great celtic music. The best 'new'group in years, February 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
The lead singer has a lovely voice and the songs are done in an individual manner. so many celtic bands just play the music loud and fast and lose the beauty of the music. Solas has not done that here. The flute playing is just beautiful and I love the fiddle playing. What more can be said?

The first time I heard this CD was in a store in Santa Barbara, and I went straight to the cash register and begged for the title. I have only good things to say about this album and I could go on forever. I love the beat - gentle but driving. Makes it good for any setting. Actually, I found that the best place to listen to this CD is in the bath with some aromatherapy candles burning. *contented sigh* :)

5.0 out of 5 stars My best new age CD, December 27, 2001
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
I have 150+ new age CD's at home. Solas is my favorite! It is soft, relaxing and with spirit. It is the kind of music you can listen in the background, or you can enjoy feeling it. If you like Enya, you would also enjoy Solas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breath-taking, May 11, 2000
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
This CD stole my heart away. From the opening strains of "Love Song", the multi-tracked Enya-esque vocals take me on a journey to lands unknown. From hard beats that actually make me want to get up and dance, to softer ones that lull me into a trance, this CD combines the best of new-age pop with Celtic music and uses Enya's technique of multi-tracking her own voice hundereds of times over to create a masterpiece of stunning beauty. Recommended for any true music fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's not Enya, but it's perfect on its own..., March 6, 2002
By A Customer

It's a great mix of piano, soft Enya-like voices and powerful yet mellow electronic instrumentals. Great for waking up in the morning as well as relaxing your brain at night.
Good job, Ronan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!! Easily one of my favorite New Age CD's!, November 16, 1998
By
"enigma101" (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Solas (Audio CD)
I love this CD! I rarely find a CD which has a number of tracks I like. This one is a pleasant exception. I would classify the type of music as more like New Age Jazz than Celtic, though. The music is very smooth but filled with beautiful repetitions, the type you keep humming to yourself that you can't get off your mind! If you like Enya, McKennitt, and most of the music from Hearts of Space, you should love this. I can't wait for Ronan Hardiman's next CD. If it's only half as good as this one, it will be worth the wait.
