I've read most of the McKaslin Clan books, and I've loved each one. However, "A Soldier for Christmas" fell short of the quality I'm used to from Jillian Hart. I read this book around Christmas time, expecting it to be somewhat "Christmas-y" because of the title. Lo and behold, the book starts in the dead heat of summer, and only the last chapter takes place on Christmas Eve. I was somewhat disappointed, but I got past it. What I couldn't dismiss was the almost irritating way the characters' points of view would change mid-paragraph. I would have to back up a few sentences to reorganize my thoughts because of the sudden shifts. But, in spite of the negative comments I have, the book was still a cute love story, one that leaves you hopeful and encouraged - as almost all Love Inspired books do!

I fell in love with Jillian Hart's writing by accident and I sure am glad I did. I have bought many of her McKaslin Clan series and have enjoyed each one of them. This book was a little sad but the ending was great! Read it and see for yourself and I'm sure you'll want to read more of Jillian Hart when you're done.
