About the Author

A California native, Wayne Ford has lived in the Golden State all his life, except for time in Germany and Arizona, courtesy of the U.S. Army.

His police experience covers four periods. He was a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army Reserve, he was a Patrolman with the Concord, California Police Department, he was a Police Officer and then Sergeant with the Oakland, California Police Department, and finally President of Welltech National Training Systems, a police training company.

He has had multiple careers since leaving police service, including business ownership, nursing home administration, federal service, and consulting. In all his other endeavors he used those skills gained while in law enforcement. This is his 17th book, but the first about his police experiences.

He is married with five grown children and a growing group of grandchildren. He holds four college degrees, including an MBA and a Ph.D. in Management.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best police book I have read, October 25, 2004
By
John Knowles (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soldier of the City: A True Police Journey of Humor, Tragedy and Courage (Paperback)
I have read many police books, but this is by far the most fun to read. I truly could not put it down. The funny stuff was hilarious and the heavy stuff was gripping. As a retired officer, it took me back to my time on the street with absolute accuracy. If you are a cop you will love it, and if not you will still get a bang out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Puts a needed human face on the police, November 6, 2004
By
A Cop Lady (Lafayette, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soldier of the City: A True Police Journey of Humor, Tragedy and Courage (Paperback)
This book is not only great reading, but it puts a real human face and voice on police officers. It's about time. The total absence of any tired old police cookie cutter images was wonderful to behold. I get the feeling I could sit down with the writer and listen to stories for hours. This is the next best thing.
