It sounds like most of everyone was waiting on something new and most everyone expected something fantastic. I 1st heard this song in Decemeber and I was really let down the first three or four times that I heard it. Then suddenly I heard it a few days ago and the same song that had once bored me to tears moved me. Settle down, don't eagerly seek satisfaction. Allow the song to play in the background on the radio or your ipod without looking for the Sade magic and then when you relax the music will speak to you. Simple, yet outstanding. That's what she's been doing all along.

Sade is by far the best female performer I have ever heard. I saw her live and let me tell you that woman and the band gives you your moneys worth and sounds just like her albums! Commands presence and gets respect! She has gone from being the King of Sorrow and being burdened with the weight of the world on her shoulders to being a Soldier of Love standing and fighting for what she believes. Now I know the video may be a little off with the men stepping, but if you really listen to the words and watch the video, it is an eye opener. I loved the song the first time I heard it, but after seeing the video, it gave me a whole new meaning to the song. On one hand it seems as if she has been hurt numerous times and is lost, but still believes love is out there. Now, after seeing the video, what I am seeing is that she is a true soldier for the "Almighty" or whatever it is she really believes. In the video there are the 4 elements earth, wind, water, fire one must battle daily in this crazy, chaotic "Wild, Wild, West" of a world we live in. Plus she is struggling internally with her own faith "I'm at the hinterland of my devotion". "I am loves soldier, I'll wait for the sound(trumpets perhaps), I know that love will come and turn it all around" To deliver us. "I am lost, but I don't doubt, so I ride, I have the will to survive"-on her own white horse. She doesn't need a knight to love her, she is loved and will fight for what she believes in.
I have all of her albums and to this day, each one jams like it was just put out yesterday and is still relevant. She sings with such pain, passion, hope and love that it can almost bring you to tears. She is classic and timeless. Not one of their songs is bad at all, unlike some of todays artists who have 3 hit songs on an album. Is it Feb 8th yet????? Well, I guess a few more days won't hurt for something I will be jamming 10 years from now-moneys worth people I am telling you!

I heard "soldier of Love" for the first time in December on our local jazz station and her voice sounds a little deeper, little more mature but her tone and her music is just as beautiful to the ear as on all her other albums. I also downloaded this song and really enjoy listening to it. I have been listening to Sade for years and have all her cds. Welcome back Sade!

This is Sade at her best, apparently the above poster has no clue what she is trying to get across. This CD won't disappoint, trust me.
This title song says alot in 6 minutes if you let it.

Sounds good I will need a more thorough listen through but when does she ever really disappoint? I like the direction the band is going with that heavy guitar and harmonica in the song. This may make up for the lackluster year of disappointments in 2009. I hope she comes out with a bang because this is what's been ailing me... Not enough good music. If this is a taste of what to expect in 2010 I say bring it on! [PS - That's a sexy cover - haunting but mesmerizing.]

Her 2000 release, LOVER'S ROCK sold 3.9 million copies in the U.S. Yes, Sade Adu has regrouped the band that bears her name, and SOLDIER OF LOVE is due for release on February 8th. The first single is the title track and it is marching its way straight up the charts. The groove is rich and compelling and the lyrics are deep and drenched with experience of love, which as we know is often a battlefield, hence this evocative line "I'm at the borderline of my faith, I'm at the hinterland of my devotion... in the frontline of this battle of mine... but I'm still alive." Welcome back Sade... soldier on girl, we've been waiting a long time!

It has been 10 years since Sade had released a new record. With 2000's Lovers Rock, she was able to really reintroduce herself musically into the mainstream. But, the heart of the matter isn't really here on her latest single, Soldier Of Love. The title track from her upcoming album is fair, but honestly not as strong as her earlier hits and shockingly not as striking as you'd expect from the intimacy she had been strongly known for in her songs. I really don't know why she had waited so long to release anything new. While it does leave a lot of her fans wanting so much more, it is honestly sad that it just wasn't on this song. When the full-length album, Soldier Of Love comes out soon, I really hope I hear something much better from Sade.

I stand corrected! The more I listen to this song and the others that have been playing on the internet, the more I love them. Sade has not lost anything in her long long (but well deserved )rest. She is still the smoothest vocalist on the scene. The video is off the chain!Ms. Adu, welcome back.

I have been a devoted Sade fan for many years.

When I heard this single I was not blown away. But in agreement with other reviewers the video is awful. My advice is listen to the song without being distracted by a talentless bunch of fashionistas. Hopefully, like me, you will hear the soul of the woman.
