About the Author

Jeanette Cram is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and a retired registered nurse. A graduate of the former St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing in 1962, she worked at the Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Psychiatry, for a number of years during her nursing career. She also started a volunteer program there, serving from 1972 to 1980, before moving to New Jersey. Since responding in 1990 to a soldier’s letter requesting home-baked cookies, she has become known as The Cookie Lady. Her passion for sending home-baked cookies to deployed soldiers developed into a cause that has attracted hundreds of dedicated bakers, known as the Crumbs, across the nation. This is Jeanette’s first book. She and her husband, Jack, live on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with their two cats, Wally and Sady.

This book is a must read for anyone wanting to hear first hand experiences from soldiers who just needed a little love from home. They came for most in the form of cookies and just support. The letters written by the soldiers that are included in the book give you a glimpse into their world. The books is also an amazing story of one woman taking a challenge and seeing it through to the end. Just a great read that will leave you feeling uplifted!

Inspiring-- that one Lady with a big heart and determinaton could start with a small act of kindness and have lt expand into the large organization that it is today.

Heart-warming--Just read the letters of appreciation from the soldiers.

Sincere--It appears that " Treat the Troops " is a corporation that is self supporting with no outside or political influence.

An all around good read.

Jeanette Cram is a life saver for so many military people. She has sent packages of Hope for over 15 years to our sons and daughters serving in the military. I was the first soldier to receive cookies during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The taste from home was a wonderful treat for me and my soldiers. This book is for all that serve and have an Angel to look after us with cookies and treats. A very good read. We salute Mrs Cram and the crumbs for their work.
