A Soldier's Devotion is the latest addition to this great series that are the stories of each member of a an elite Special Forces Pararescue Team. You will want to read each book in the Wings Of Refuge series because each one has little tidbits of info about the other team members, and you feel such a connection to them by getting to know them better. This is the story of Vince Reardon. The author does a fine job of developing his character from a wounded bitter man to a hero that we along with Chloe fall in love with. This was another one that I could not put down.My usual chosen romance sub-genre is historical with cowboy or western lawman heroes, but I totally loved this contemporary romance series with Military men as the heroes. Try them and see what you think. "A Soldier's Devotion" by Cheryl Wyatt,
This review is from: A Soldier's Devotion (Love Inspired) (Mass Market Paperback)
Attorney Valentina Russo (Val) is new in Refuge. She was on her way to the courthouse when she got a call on her cell phone that her aunt Elsie, who is in her 80s, had toppled down her basement stairs on a medical scooter. She got a ticket for talking on the cell phone while driving. She saw the red light too late and hit Vance Reardon and his custom-made bike. Though her aunt was in dire need of her, she stayed and prayed for him until the ambulance arrived. She got a ticket for disobeying the a traffic signal. Although she wasn't speeding according to the skid marks, she got a ticket for driving too fast for conditions. Vance Reardon was on his way to participate in a lifesaving mission with his U.S. Air Force pararescue jumper unit when he was careened into by Val in her sporty red car. Now his life was side-lined for two weeks, and the mission was passed off to another unit. Vance is seething that she wrecked his bike, because it was custom-built by his brother while in prison. A one-of-kind and irreplaceable-his brother was dead from a prison riot. He had been incarcerated for a crime someone else did. His sister,Victoria, and his father are estranged from him. Vince has no time for God, Christians or lawyers, though he did feel comforted while Val prayed for him at the accident before the ambulance arrived. Cheryl's story was delightful to read because of the dichotomy of Vince and Val's relationship- a touch-and-go relationship between the fiery rage of Vince clashing with Val's conviction that God lovingly wants her to minister to him. Yet Cheryl had the romantic sparks flying between them, though the rage spewed from Vince in Val's direction. Cheryl was able to pull together the intricate, instant reactions in Vince's demeanor with split-second timing, indicating a deeper level to his pain. The little nuances of his facial expressions spoke volumes to Val. Yet Val's transparency was so refreshing. She has Vince's tender side show when he was impressed with Val's level of involvement with the community, even though she was an attorney! What also made it delightful was seeing the slow changes in the love-hate relationship, and Vince's choice to trust. Cheryl plays this decision in a precise manner that gives you the thrills and chills that Val was feeling. God doesn't give up on the unlovely. No matter our dispositions. He loves us and wants us to be committed to Him. The question is whether Vince will stop running and surrender. This book was provided by the author in exchange for my honest review of her book. You will enjoy it! It's real-no pat answers. Raw emotions. Hard anger. Yet tenderness. A great read!

"A Soldier's Devotion" by Cheryl Wyatt begins with a bang. Post-bang, actually. The car accident has already taken place, and we meet our hero flat on his back in the middle of the street. His motorcycle is destroyed and the woman who hit him is on the ground beside him and praying. This is not how Vince Reardon thought this day would go. This incident was also unexpected for Val Russo, and so are the feelings that she is developing for this antagonistic man who doesn't share her faith. But a devotion to underprivileged kids draws them together and offers opportunity to create romantic entanglements that follow this apparently God-appointed "meeting" which are what each of them least expects.Wyatt has outdone herself with this book in my opinion. Vince's antagonistic attitude toward Val is supremely believable as is how the author describes how the hard crust over his heart cracks and crumbles, leading him back into relationship with God. This novel was an absolute joy!

This Wings of Refuge series is riveting! Every book features such unique characters and intricate plotlines, they are nearly impossible to put down. I couldn't possibly choose a favourite in the series yet because each character grabs your interest from page one. Well done Cheryl!! Can't wait to see more of your work on bookshelves soon!
