4.0 out of 5 stars a sweet story March 16, 2007
This is one of those books that you finish reading and feel the need to sigh. It's a sweet story, a feel good story. A story about love overcoming all of the obstacles and challenges that life hurtles at us day after day. The story centers around Ron, a young military man, and Katie, the woman of his dreams. We follow them through a friendship that blossoms into more, through years of seperation during World War II, through paternity tests and losses of friends--all the while, the main theme is blatantly obvious: love can conquer all. I admit, I'm not much of a romance reader. Initially that's what I pegged this book as..and while there is somewhat of a romantic feel to it, its not all gushy mushy romantic. It's a nice heartfelt story...and I found myself enjoying it to my surprise. I would definitely say that this book will appeal to more females than me sexist, but I can't imagine any of my guy friends reading it..I can however, see them being dragged to the movie theater to watch it, when its adapted into a feature film.. If you want to read a simple, heart warming story..this is the one for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story! August 29, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition
I had no expectations at all when I started this book, having never read this author before. I was thrilled to find myself completely engulfed in this book. The author does a great job bringing the characters to life, and keeping them real. I felt as if I was reading the love story of someone I knew, it wasn't one of those books where you say "It's a sweet story, but that would never happen to anyone in real life!" The author also keeps the story moving along at a reasonable pace. It doesn't drag, but it also doesn't move too quick. I felt that I got all I needed from each scene before she moved on to the next one. This was a decent sized read at about 5377 Kindle locations, but I found that I read it very quickly as I could not put it down. The book was free of formatting issues and had very minimal grammatical errors (I believe I saw maybe two in the whole book).

4.0 out of 5 stars A Lovely Story August 30, 2009

I didn't know what to expect from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good writing, an interesting plot, and a story that seemed to move at just the right pace. Good character development and interesting dialogue.

The story takes place in WWII, but the situations could still happen even today. It's a story of an earlier generation, but still applies to modern day.

This isn't a book that takes a long time to read - it would be a great beach read - but it remains interesting all the way through. Give it a try, I think you will like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read April 30, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have been looking for a book to be wrapped up in for a long time, too bad I read this one in 2 days. I absolutely loved it, I couldn't put it down. And when I wasn't reading it I was trying to figure out what would happen next. My husband is currently deployed and though this didn't really help out with anything I am going through, the support of other military wives and military friends coming together as a family just makes me melt. Loved this book, I will be checking out the authors other books!

More About the Author

The first thing I was ever paid to write was a weekly newspaper column called Scenes From Real Life. I wrote this column for my hometown newspaper for four years. I began writing fiction in my early twenties, choosing the romance genre because that was what I enjoyed reading.
From 1986-2007, I worked at my hometown, daily newspaper. In 2000, I became the paper's composition supervisor. In 2007, I left the newspaper and now do e-book formatting on a freelance basis for "indie" authors and for two publishers. My husband and I still live in our hometown, because we both enjoy the pace of small town living.
