4.0 out of 5 stars +++THRASH+++, October 10, 2008

Excellent old school thrash from Canada.It's a shame no one plays music like this anymore, except the old school bands who have reunited. By this album the band has added more progressive touches to the music. You could call this thinking mans thrash, the lyrics are also a step above average I'd say. Simply put, if you like fast crispy thrash geared toward the thinking man, Soldiers Of Misfortune should satisfy your thrash needs. This band was heavily under appreciated and never got the credit they deserved. This band influenced many in the thrash and death metal scene. I won't name any bands but I can hear some very similar riffing in songs. This band slays every nu-metal/metalcore/hardcore bands put together. This is real metal folks. This is not your grandmother's metal band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slayer's ignored Canadian cousins, March 16, 2003

Thank heaven for Canadian content and live clubs, otherwise I would have missed out on this band at thrash metal's height. They were essential to my musical diet of the time. They had a large cult following in Canada, and rightly so. If only they'd have made it a little bigger, maybe they'd still be with us today as a unit. As it stands, they left us with four fantastic albums which show a rapid evolution of style, from the early Slayer-esque raw thrash of "Torment in Fire", to the more technical "Forward to Termination", to THIS fine album, combining thrash back together with "regular" metal, to their last, "Apocalypse Inside", a riff frenzy. The last two albums are my favourites, with this one edging out the "Apocalypse" by a nose. Look no further than the title track, "Soldiers of Misfortune" and you'll find why the people who knew of them loved them so much. "Soldiers" is easily the most diverse album of the four, but make no mistake, this is a thrash band. And this is their epic.
