But he soon finds out that their love is stronger than death, and with a little faith and a little hope some wishes do come true, even if they are only in your dreams. This review is from: A Soldier's Star: The love and loss between a parent and child (Paperback)
I bought this book after my sweet baby brother was killed at Ft. Hood on November 5, 2009. Although my brother didn't have children, I wanted to have it for my kids, who adored their Uncle Jason. It is truly a wonderful book, not only for those who have lost a soldier, but even for those who have not, so they may know and appreciate the sacrifice that is made by our military. It is written very well for a young child to understand. I found this very important. Our children only know what they are taught, and sometimes we think they are "too young" to handle some things. If you explain thing to them simply and in a way they can understand, they are truly resilient and can even become blessings to adults after they comprehend something fully. I love the hope that she gives to children who can still communicate with someone they have lost. And to those who may not have suffered that kind of loss, it can teach children that we are more than our earthly bodies, and we can find comfort in knowing that when we die, it is not over. This kind of hope is not only what children need, but adults as well. When my only brother was killed, I only have this fact to rely on to get me through the day. Highly recommend to children or adults. It will inspire your patriotism and spirituality.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Soldier's Star, June 4, 2009
This review is from: A Soldier's Star: The love and loss between a parent and child (Paperback)
This book is truly moving. Once I received it, I had to read it immediately. I can't think of a single book that has ever moved me to tears before. This one did. Knowing one of the author's and what she and her two sons went through in the loss of her husband, and seeing the heartbreak and anger of the young boy in this boy, really make you appreciate the sacrifice our soldiers make. Please get a copy of this book, and share it with your whole family.

This story will choke up the toughest of readers. Us, especially, since my son and I are casualties of the war. My husband was killed in December of 2005.
My son is seven and could finally understand that he is not the only one who is angry and sad and jealous of kids that have their fathers here on Earth. He keeps wanting to read it again!

I am going to try to get this book on every elementary library's bookshelf in my area. Hope you do the same!
