I just received this book from ABC News and was signed by the author. A section in the book includes a story about me and my fellow Marines during the Fall of Saigon. I read the whole book and enjoyed not having a bunch of stats and dates - just the words from the vietnam vets.

This is an amazing book. The first battle in this book is the same one portrait in "We Were Soldiers". Some of these soldier's descriptions of the war are so horrific, this book is definitely not for the faint of heart. However, this is a MUST READ for anyone interested in first hand accounts of combat in Vietnam.

Excellent read. The author presents accounts, in short vignettes, describing in detail not only the role, but the thinking that goes into being a combat infantryman, be they marines as is the case of this book or U.S. Army. A must read for anyone considering a career in the military and for those who have loved ones who have chosen to make this their profession. One comes away with awe and admiration for these courageous men (and now women) who put themselves in harms way and in some cases giving their lives for their buddies and our freedom.

Excellant book that was well researched and presented. I served as a member of the Marine Security Guard Detachment at the American Embassy at the time of the evacuation and personally know several of the people that are featured. I have spoken with a several and their accounts of these events are accurate and according to their interviews with the author. Well Done! Semper Fi, Ken Crouse - Folsom, CA
