More About the Author

My name is Jim Jackson; my given name is Walter James. I spent fifteen years with a sheriff's department; eighty percent of that time in the Criminal Investigation Division. At the time of my retirement I was managing the department's crime lab and processing crime scenes. Prior to my career in law enforcement I served twenty four years in the U.S. Army. Early in my military career I was in the U.S. Army Special Forces; the Green Berets. From there I went on to duties as a Drill Sergeant, Army Recruiter, Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. I retired as a Command Sergeant Major. My current interests include, fishing, shooting, history, military, criminalistics (CSI), science, and religion. If you read some of my works you will find that I believe in a God but have issues with organized religion. My first book, SOLDIER'S STUDY GUIDE, did very well and encouraged adventures into other written works. And as a result of some success I occupy my time and retain my sanity by putting words on sheets of paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soldier's Study Guide, October 11, 2000
By A Customer
My husband joined the Army National Guard and he read the book cover to cover. He thought is was an excellent way to learn the rules of the military before basic training. It helped prepare him for the future and to know what is expected of a soldier. Anyone joining any branch of the military should read this book first.
