modern blues,
By "enzion" (San Luis Obispo, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soledad Brothers (Audio CD)
The Soledad brothers have become widely welcomed by a huge fan base create by the explosion of new bands coming from Detroit who offer new stylizations of old songs and material. When reading the previous reviews of this record, I decided to keep an open mind when purchasing this record. I am a huge fan of blues music and it makes me happy to see modern rock bands incorporate blues into their music. With an unbiased approach to review this album, I can give you this:1. The songs on this album are short and the album seems to go by fast. Overall, I would recommend the Soledad Brothers to anyone who has interest in the White Stripes or an interest in blues music. Enjoy.

Some people are such snobs!,

Get over yourselves. This band is great, especially live. They have energy, dissonance, power, and yes, creativity. This isn't wannabe blues, it's new. A couple reviewers mentioned the Rolling Stones, heck, the same stuff they are crying about was boo-hoo'd over them too. Probably the same crowd who cried in their bouquets when Dylan went electric. Free your mind! This is good, fun, rockin' stuff.

Buy This Album and then See Them Live,
By Eduardo B. Quinanes (CHICAGO, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soledad Brothers (Audio CD)
I haven't been this excited about a band since The Gories. It's no-nonsense, raw, dirty garage blues. And what's more important is that it is what Rock N' Roll should be about: Having a good time. I Recently saw them live in Chicago and they are even better than I expected. How a band like this came out of Toledo, OH is beyond me. Maybe it's because they are so close to Detroit cause that's the only thing I can think of. Hopefully they will tour more in the future and if you get a chance to see them, do it. You won't regret it.
