Lots of oscillating fans squeak where the hinge and the motor meet. Or the fan cage rattles because it isn't held together well. This fan has a rubber seat for the inner fan cage and 5 clips to hold the cage together. And one really tiny bolt/nut at the bottom. This bolt is a pain to thread with my large fingers but with it tight it won't open up for any small hands that get curious.

Anyway it's a great fan, moves a lot of air. yes you have to put the cage and slide the blade on. (need a screwdriver) but it's not a difficult assembly and it makes the box smaller which is a savings for the environment.

Terrific 3 speed fan. Easy to assemble and really blows the air out good, even at speed 1. Speed 3 is really fast. Very quiet operation. A great desk or table fan.

The fan is great-looking and works fine (seriously, how hard can it be to build a table fan?), but the unnecessary pain of assembly costs this review at least 1 star.

Most other fan manufacturers can make a product that snaps or screws together with no tools. Soleus, however, requires a screwdriver to attach the fan blades and has three nuts&bolts on the screen that are only slightly bigger than eyeglass hardware. I managed to attach 2, but dropped the third and still haven't found it.

The fan is fine as an assembled product, but I'll probably look for other manufacturers in the future. I simply don't want to spend 20 minutes digging for small tools in order to put together a simple table fan.

I bought this fan to use in our motorhome. It moves the air nicely without blowing everything all over the place. I can not stand noisey fans or air conditioners. Unless it is scorching hot this fan does a good job. It has a nice sturdy base and it looks nice too. Some fans are so noisey it makes sleeping difficult. This fan is quiet enough to leave on when sleeping. It also does not make a banging noise when it oscillates.

We've used ours every night in the bedroom for the past 8 months (sits on a deep windowsill). It moves a decent amount of air and is remarkably quiet.

Sure you can buy a nasty, white plastic one for $10 but for a reasonable amount more it's a nice thing to look and at least gives the impression that it'll last a good long time.

Unless you're have trouble operating a screwdriver there will be no problem assembling it.

This is just like fans from the 30's and 40's that actually worked -- it's very solidly constructed from metal parts, and best of all it's super-quiet. Definitely the best table fan I've ever bought. Great for office work spaces.

Fan itself is nice, solid and the motor itself is quiet. The occilation mechanism occasionally squeaks a bit but I could probably drop some oil in it and clear that up. The speed indicator is a bit chinsy, but otherwise I like it a lot. Moves a good amount of air.

Amazon ships this in the original box (rather than double boxing) and the box was destroyed upon arrival. How the fan didn't have a scratch on it is a miracle. Be careful you don't loose the little set screw that attaches the blades. If you do use it you can get a set screw (metric...I think its an M3 or M4, I can check if you need) at any hardware store.

Update: I put a drop of bike chain lube on the moving screw joint part and the slight squeek that was occasionally present is now totally gone.

I must agree with everything that has been written previously. This fan is sturdy, attractive, quiet and well-built with all the features one would want or need on a table-top fan. And you can't beat the price.

This Soleus Fan is an attractive, well built and seems to be an excellent value and of good quality for the price. The fan is a perfect size for a bed side table or desk and has a very attractive retro stainless look that would be extremely fitting in both a modern or more traditional settings.

This is an all around nice fan. It is very stylish, extremely quiet and keeps the air very cool. The fan oscillates nicely. The motor is strong and yet you can barely hear any noise. I was so pleased that I bought another one for the guest room. Highly recommended especially for the price.

This is a really great fan. It's sturdy and osculates very well. I like the design a lot. When I first got it it seemed a lot smaller then I had imagined but when I turned it on it blasted SO much air. I live in Florida where it can get VERY hot and this little fan has kept me cool for a good while.

What prevents this from being 5 stars is that it is advertised as whisper quiet. Though this may be true compared to other fans, it is still louder than I would like. I am a light sleeper and I find that this is just a tad too loud, though I keep it running during the whole day and it doesn't bother me at all.

Overall, this is a great fan for the price, and my only complaint is that it's not QUITE as quiet as I'd like or as other reviews have said, however it is still pretty quiet and won't get in the way for those who can sleep through some sound.
