I purchased two of these heaters. One of them is still working but the temperature up and down didn't work out of the box. The other one worked fine for 3 months and then it started sparking. I contacted the company and they sent a new one after I mailed them $12. The replacement arrived today and IT DOESN'T get warm at all. I tried to call the company and for every extension I called I got no answer. I am now waiting for a phone or email response. I am very upset with these heaters. I wouldn't but one!

The 1000W version of this product worked great at first, but over time, this particular product line of Soleus Air Micathermic heaters will lose their ability to heat over time. Advertised at 1000 Watts, now, after 1 year, is 478 Watts, and loses wattage each day it's used. This means it's outputting less and less heat. I'm sure that this 1500 Watt version will produce the same results over time.

I submitted a claim to Soleus Air and they have not resolved the problem - they only gave some explanation thinking they were right, but I sent them more details of the problem and they have not responded for over 1 month. Looking up my case number on their site, they consider this case resolved. It is not.

This is product is faulty and you won't get any reimbursements, so be careful, and buy a different brand, or a different heating technology like ceramic.

I will not ever buy a Soleus Air product again - I do not want to support their company in producing poor quality products with poor customer support.

Ok, been using this heater for the last 2 months to heat a bedroom.
pros:-
nicely styled, remote control works well, timer, ECO mode - all good, will warm a large bedroom over about 30 mins
cons:-
the function and display could be better designes, takes a while to heat up, no way to turn off the LED display (glows all night), beeps when it turns off timer (can wake you up..!)

I bought this heater Dec 2009, off of Newegg, and when I received it, it was not working. I called Soleus customer service and they promptly sent a replacement. That one was damaged in shipping, and Soleus sent another one to me. This one finally worked, and great at that. I then bought two more of the white versions, and I used them all winter long. I live in a 4 room apartment, not very big, and used them to hear my entire apartment for all winter long, and they have been fantastic! I have electric heat anyways, and these worked better for me, and even my electric bill was a little less compared to the previous winter that I did not have them. Now I am going on to my second winter with them, and I am even buying one for my brother as a gift.

This is a fantastic room heater !
I looked on the INET for an electronic heater, as I was tired of oil filled or infrared room heaters. I heard that electronic heaters were very efficient and actually warmed the space. I was not mislead.
This heater has a thermostat that keeps the temperature very stable. It is also digital and has a readout that shows the current temperature. The best part, is that it has a remote control... you can set it from across the room. Very nice.
I cannot imagine a better product for me, than the flat panel Micathermic heater from Soleus.

I own a couple of these heaters. I like that it has a remote and that it beeps each time you change a setting with the remote; getting that confirmation allows you to be across the room from the heater and adjust the temperature. It is a loud beep, so if you plan on turning it on and off during the night, that may be an issue. Since I just leave it at a low temperature setting during the night, the volume of the beep is irrelevant. It is slim and doesn't take up a lot of space, and I can wheel it around to different rooms if needed. It heats up the room quickly and maintains the temperature, and it is also pretty quiet.

The first one I bought had a faulty wheel base and I had to call the company that makes the heater for a replacement part. It took a little bit of work, but after a few phone calls and emails back and forth, I got the replacement part at no extra cost. I don't think it was a stellar customer service experience, but it wasn't painful either.

When you turn on the heater for the first time it does have a smell, but I simply leave it on in a well ventilated room for a couple of days and the smell seems to burn off. I have not noticed a smell after the first two-three days of running it.

This heater is super quiet, which is nice. I have a 12 by 12 bedroom and this heater kept it warm even when the temp outside got down into the teens. The only problem that I have had with this heater is the thermostat. The thermostat works ok when you are in low or high mode. The problem occurs in economy mode, what happens here is that the heater will run on high if the temp is more than three degrees from the set point, then when it gets to less than 3 degrees the heater runs on low then. But the problem is that the heater will not cut off when the correct temp is reached, it will just keep heating. Other than that this is a pretty good heater.

Update 2-6-09 Just after Christmas the thermostat stopped working completely. The heater would just run all of the time. I called customer service January 2 but had to leave a voice mail. I Figured that they was closed for the holiday and they would return my call next week. I never received a call so I called them several more times with no luck. Well finally on 2-4-09 they called and said that they had just now got to me on the list. I told them the problem and they said if I would mail the heaters cord to them with 12.00 to cover shipping that they would send out a new heater next week. This would be one of the best space heaters I have ever owned if the quality was just better. We will see how well heater number 2 lasts.

We have an electric furnace and a 2100 square foot two-level 1930s bungalow home. We were tired of winter bills being $500-600 a month. We bought two of these heaters, one for each bedroom. Our bedrooms are fairly large and yet, within several minutes of turning the heaters on (in Econo Mode, with thermostat set at 72) the room is very comfortable. Of course, being in Houston, we don't have wintery winters. The coldest it will likely get here is 28-35 degrees. I think these heaters, for what we paid for them, are a bargain, and do exactly what we want. We don't use most of the rooms in our house, other than kitchen, bath, bedrooms and upstairs office. So heaters in each actively used room will significantly cut our heating bill. The heaters are quiet, seem to cycle on and off appropriately, and the beauty is that they are on rollers, so one of the downstairs heaters gets rolled to the door of the bathroom for showering. All in all, I am very pleased with the performance of these heaters and plan to get one more for my office upstairs.

I've had the heater a month, or so, and think it's great. It beeps when you plug into an electrical outlet; another beep as you activate the heater; and a beep each time you set the automatic thermostat to a specific temperature. The highest heat setting is 80F degrees. The heater is activated by buttons on the heater, or by a small remote control. Suprisingly light in weight, it is easily transported by the built-in handle and 4 wheels. Heat radiates from the top and the flat panels on each side. I have not used it in very large rooms, but have found it heats up 6x8 areas nicely. I am happy with this heater.

We purchased this product just when the weather in VA was starting to get a bit brisk (right before our biggest snow storm in history). The heater does its job - heats our family room quite well. Even though we have a heat registers in our family room - there are areas that are often cold. This product helps keep the family room warm - we spend alot of time in that room. I like that it has a timer, temperature control, high, medium and low settings, and a VERY EASY TO USE remote control.
