Japan's Best,
By
This review is from: Sol-fa (Audio CD)
ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION is one of the best alternative/rock bands to come out of Japan. They're unique indie rock feel and soulful lyrics offer a breed of Japanese music that you can't find anywhere else. Unlike the typical "J-ROCK" band, Ajikan came up from the ranks of the Japanese indie rock scene and has established themselves as a musical powerhouse for J-Alternative music.Sol-fa, their 2nd full album is a beautiful album with a mellow feel. It contains a lot of their hit singles including Loop and Loop, Siren, Rewrite (4th OP for Full Metal Alchemist for you anime geeks), and Kimi no Machi Made. This is one of their best albums so pick it up. I'm glad Tofu Records and Sony Music decided to bring this band over to the states. Listen and be hooked.

Amazing!,

Immensely satisfying music and great lyrics! I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone who already likes Ajikan, to be sure--"Rewrite" is my favorite song on the album, but "Siren" and "Re:Re" (don't ask me about that title; your guess is as good as mine" also definitely stand out. Siren has a fascinating musical arrangement. Absolutely excellent CD. I don't care if you've never heard Ajikan; this is brilliant. ^^

Ajikan,

Asian Kung-fu Generation (AKG, AKfG or Ajikan are common nicknames for this band) is one of the best bands in Japan right now. They have been recording songs for many years and have a strong following in both the US and Japan. Ajikan is my personal favorite band. Their Indie-rock sound and lyrics that hit the heart are what makes people so drawn to them. This CD is their best-selling full albumn yet (their other albumn being Kimi Tsunagi Five M or Kunkei Faibumu and a mini Albumn called Houkai Amplifer). With a new single called Blue Train planned for release November 30th, Ajikan is steadily making their way to the top! A great band to start with if you're not quite into Japanese Rock. They are fun and exciting. They can do a great dancing song as well as a pounding ballad that strikes your heart strings. They are such an Awesome Band! Remember folks, AKG is Love >w<--Alex FitzGerald

Asian Kung-Fu Generation...rocks?,
By M. G. H. Linssen "AquaNoodle(nl)" (Driebergen-Rijsenburg, the Netherlands) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

As for me, I am a relative newcomer in this whole J-Rock and J-Pop thing, so I can't claim I am an expert on the subject. Being somewhat sceptical of the whole Japanese rock scene at first (weird..Japanese persons and their wierd rock) this sole album has now made me wanting to buy all Asian Kung-Fu Generation albums and other J-Rock albums at once. I won't say words can't describe the quality of this album, because words certainly can. This album is just great (or 'greatoh!' if you want to mention that with a Japanese-English accent). It's swinging, it sounds good, it makes you want to listen to it all day long, and more. In other words, it will cost one trouble to find a better rock album nowadays, or it has to be one of Gackt's outstanding CDs, but that's for another review.About the music itself, what can one expect? Well, for one thing, the voice of the leadsinger isn't perfect, and during those few times you don't listen to this album you will wonder what it is that drags you to and trough it again. But even though his voice isn't perfect, it fits the music perfectly, and you wouldn't want it any other way. The music itself is really swinging, not catchy, but it just sounds great. Whether you listen to it as background music while doing something else, or whether you listen to the music itself, plain enjoying it, you will love this album and it never gets irritating or boring, not even after listening to it for 10 times straight, and trust me, I've been in that situation. - Roderik Kelder, the Netherlands.

i know many people learn about them from their opening song in fullmetal alchemist that played on cartoon network.Ajikan is so much more than that. a great band with a fantastic following. i can't say enough about this band, but i wanted to stop by and give it 5 stars. in japan, this cd sells for $25-$30. in america, it's half that or less. it's the best bargain you'll ever find. their new album, fanclub, is even better. but, it's not out in the USA, you have to cough up the $27.50 for it. also a newer compilation of their singles and bsides is coming out in a few weeks, 10.25.06. enjoy! kore wa hontou ni sugoi ongaku desu!

I've been into AKG for a little while now and am glad to see them released in the US. I have the import of this CD but, the US release has the extra disc. I just might have to pick this up just for that. Any real music fan will enjoy this group. Give'm a try!

Addiction at its best,

It took a while for this CD to grow on me the first time I got it. After that week of conditioning, I honestly could not get Sol-fa out of my car's CD player for a good two months. Even now, it still manages to find its way back in the drive and stays there for quite some time. Some may complain that every track sounds the same. It may be true but it's not a problem when it sounds this good. If you're new to the genre or need a CD to add to your collection, get Sol-fa. You won't regret it.

I cant say enough good things about these guys, from the cover art (AKA Obi) to the tracks, both inspired and inspiring. There isn't one song on this album that I don't think, 'oh I like this one' every time I hear one. If your a fan of Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Green Day (the early stuff) or Alternative music (before the industry defined it and put it into a box) you will enjoy this album and this band.

I love the sound of this band. They're like nothing I've ever heard before. There's not a bad song on this cd. Great album. I also agree with a lot of the previous reviews on this.
