I first tested this out on towel-dried hair and the results were fantastic. My hair, which is naturally curly, was silky soft and stick straight with no frizz -- and I live in Florida. Used it the next day on dry hair, and again, had great results.

It's lightweight and has temperature settings, plus an on/off switch. The plates will not grip your hair tightly but your hair will not slip through the plates either. My hair is pretty long and found that this 1-1/4" worked very well all around.

My daughter has the 1-3/4 inch and I had to replace it within a year because the swivel cord starting flickering the iron on and off. I myself have the 1-1/4 inch that I bought 1-1/2 years ago that now won't come on at all becuase of something wrong in the switch or something. My husband works on small electronics and he could not fix either one of them. For the kind of money that gets spent on these devices by so many people, they should be manufactured to last longer than a year or so. Otheriwse we both love how they do our hair. I just wish I did not have to keep buying one each year or so.

I've been straightening my hair just about every day for the past 11 years. I've tried many different brands and styles, this is by far my favorite! I got it as a gift almost 6 years ago. It works so well, my hair stays straight all day, it smooths out the fly aways and frizzies (which I have a lot of). My hair looks healthy and shiny, people are always surprised when I tell them I've been straightening my hair for so long. I can even use it to create a loose curl in my hair, it's super fast and looks great! As I said I've had this for 6 years now, and it's just now starting to give out. I'm definately getting the same one, I wouldn't even think about changing. LOVE IT!

This is the first time I've ever straightened my hair on my own and my first straightening tool that I've ever purchased.I'm very very pleased with it! It was very easy to use and took a lot less effort than I imagined to straighten my hair, especially since my hair is long curly and VERY thick! It made my hair sleek, straight and healthy looking! The iron heated up pretty quickly,even when I set it at the second highest temperature! The only downside to the product is that the hair is hot to touch for a short moment right after it went through the iron. I give this product 4 1/2/ stars!!!

I ordered the Solia Professional Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-1/4"), it is a great product, as long as it works. After a few months of use, it broke, melted, and almost caught on fire. I have had more than 10 emails back and forth with this seller and the manufacturer. The manufacturer could care less and tells me to talk to the seller. The seller does not reply to my emails, other than a generic canned reply.

The seller wants me to pay for shipping to return the product, and also pay for shipping for them to return the repaired item back to me.

No matter how good this product is when it works, I would strongly recommend staying away from this seller, or the manufacturer. They do not stand behind their product, even in special cases where there was potential to burn my home down.

At this point, I just want my money back, I would never use this product out of principle. While there are many solid good reviews, those are all for customers whose product did not fail them. In those cases, I am sure you will be happy, but if you happen to get a bad product, consider it equivalent to throwing your money away, as you will never get it back, other than filing a claim with Visa which I plan on doing

I've owned this for a few days and am amazed at the great job it does. The iron itself heats up quickly and cools off quickly. I chose it over a CHI because it comes with a heat setting, which a similarly priced Chi did not. I bought this directly from Folica. It came with a 2 year guarantee and free shipping. As someone else mentioned, if you are not sure about this product, go to Folica's website and read all the reviews.

The Solia is flat iron. I love that it has actual temperature settings, it's light and produces professional results.
