I have been looking for a simple locking mechanism to match the non-locking antique glass knobs I bought for my 1902 house. It has been a long and surprisingly fruitless search, so when I found these, which appear to be exactly what I had in mind, I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, these locks are crap. Specific cons include:
1) The lock is very difficult to turn and on top of that, you have to turn it more than 180 degrees to get it fully locked / unlocked. 2) The bolt on this lock is not a standard size and is an inch or so shorter than normal, so if you are using this with pretty much any door knob in existence, the lock won’t line up directly below the door knob. 3) When I returned these locks due to their poor quality and functionality, not only did they want me to pay for the return shipping, they wouldn’t refund my purchase shipping. If you’re going to sell inferior products, you should at least cover the cost to ship when the customer calls you out.
In summary, don’t buy these unless you’re looking for an expensive paperweight that looks and feels cheap.
