The curtains block out all light.

These curtains no only keep the bright sun out of my kids room when they go to bed as well as help them sleep in in the mornings but they help with the heat.

The fabric is heavy and thick feeling and very soft and nice to the touch and they hang very well.

Color Name: Sky Blue Verified Purchase
I have these curtains in "Sky Blue" and in "Navy Blue" for my daughter's and my son's rooms, respectively. The navy curtains are complete black-out curtains - they let no light in through the curtains themselves (there is some slight light from the tops and the bottoms where the curtains do not meet the wall - I would think this is to be expected). I was so thrilled with them that I bought the lighter blue curtains for my daughter's room. The Sky Blue curtains are NOT complete black-out curtains. They are heavy-duty and they do block more light than other brands of non-black-out curtains that I have in other rooms, but they do allow some back-lighting shining through, which is disappointing.

However, they do seem to work very well to keep temperatures in the room down. I suspect that the darker colors work much better than the light colors at preventing light, but all both colors do a nice job as thermal curtains. I like the material, and the colors are well-represented on this page. Overall, I am pleased, but people should be aware that they will need to purchase dark colors in order to get black-out curtains.

I purchased these curtains based on the majority of positive reviews, and because I found the negative reviews to be a bit overly critical and therefore questionable.

Having said that, there is truth to both sides. Yes, they do a fair job of blocking out the light, but I would definitely not say that they block them out anywhere close to 100% or the advertised 99%. I live in an apartment with south-face windows, which means I basically get sunlight throughout all day light hours. I notice that it appears to be 99$ blackout early in the day. However, as the day progresses, more and more light penetrates the curtains, until I can clearly see the silhouette of the window frame through the curtain and the window panes. Having said that, there is no problem at night with blocking out street lights.

I think it comes down to expectations and needs. If you truly need 100% light blockage during the brightest times of day, you will either need to supplement these curtains with another layer, or buy something more "industrial strength". However, I manage to sleep through the midday despite the less-than-perfect blackout provided when the sun is at its peak, so it isn't so much a problem for myself.

The only setup that has ever provided me with perfect blackout (and was constructed in a stepwise, not a rational, planned out fashion) was one set of blinds, covered with a plastic blind, and then a huge, black thick canvas sheet that extended almost half a foot on either side of said window. It was a bit extreme (and very cumbersome to get to opening the windows), but it worked. I was hoping to avoid such a hack job this time around by getting "blackout" curtains, but unfortunately, they do not approach the effectiveness of what I had previously cobbled together.

These are great blackout curtains. I purchased the beige, and it's true to color.
These curtains really do block out the sunlight!! They hang beautifully and even come with matching tie-backs!! Our bedroom is at least a few degress cooler during these hot, humid summer days, and I"m sure they will be great in cold winter months. Best practical purchase!!

I ordered the beige panels, but was concerned about the feedback particularly about this light color. I have north and west facing windows, plus a huge light from the water plant directly shining through all night. I am really thrilled about these curtains. They are soft, hang well, and well made. Although not blackout (due to the light color probably as others claimed), they are certainly very dark when closed. Of course, a bit of light peeps around the sides of the curtain, but that is to be expected. What especially pleased me is that these curtains REALLY help to block sound! The smallest noises keep me up and I struggle with insomnia, so getting to sleep is a constant battle. Sometimes my nerves feel shredded from the outside noise. I find these curtains muffle the sounds so much more than regular curtains that I can bear the sound that I do hear and get a somewhat restful sleep. Unexpected bonus! I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND these curtains!

I ordered these because I was desperate to get my dog to be able to sleep in later than 5:30 am during the spring and summer when the days are longer. I received them 2 days later through my Amazon Prime membership and they were exactly as stated. I bought the navy blue because it matched the room AND because I wanted them to block out as much sunlight as possible so I figured a dark color would be best. The curtains are a good quality and are the same color on the "back" and don't feel like the older insulated curtains I've seen before. These are actually soft. They also have 2 different types of openings to insert your rod. There is a "pocket" and alternatively there are tabs on the back that you can slip the rod through.

I put them up and the difference is phenomenal. It was the middle of the afternoon but it looked like it could have been the middle of the night. I can't recommend these enough!

(I purchased one pair of this style, and 1 of the tie up shades for a window that has an window A/C unit in it. They match perfectly and the tie up shade blocks the upper portion of the window without interfering with the air conditioner)
