Too Big,
By Jerry (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acecad Digimemo L2 Portfolio (Electronics)
I purchased the DiGiMemo digital notepad (which is great) and needed a case to protect it from the beating it was taking in my bag. The product is nice, but it is HUGE! It's bigger than my 15" laptop. And when I take it out at meetings to use, I end up using way more space than I should.
They need to offer something a little more inconspicuous. It's just too darn big.

I purchased this product for notetaking when meeting with clients. The pad captures writing perfectly and syncing with the computer is a snap. The portfolio is cheaply made but it fits the pad well. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

I purchased this portfolio for my wife's Acecad Digimemo. The interior design is similar to other portfolios I've owned. It has a few pockets to carry accessories or other items you might need and a convenient pen holder. The elastic straps hold the Digimemo snuggly in place, so there is no concern that it will fall out or get jostled around inside.
The exterior has a nice, leather-like feel to it and a professional look. I can't comment on durability, as we've only had it for a short time, but it seems like it would hold up similar to the other portfolios that I've had for a few years of continuous use. On the downside: When the Digimemo is in the portfolio the SD card slot and the mini-USB port are both difficult to access. You almost have to remove the Digimemo from the portfolio to gain access. The portfolio is kind of bulky. It's not comfortable to write on the pad while it's on my lap. I have to take the Digimemo out of the portfolio to get comfortable. When writing on a table, this portfolio is fine, unless you have limited space. The portfolio cannot be folded completely over, so you have to remove the Digimemo if you don't have space to lay it open flat. Conclusion: I would recommend buying this portfolio if you will be carrying your Digimemo around (i.e. at work, in school, etc.). For an expensive purchase, it's worth having this to protect it while in transit, or at least find an alternative that fits. A portfolio designed for a small laptop, might be a reasonable alternative. If you will not be transporting your Digimemo (i.e. just using it at home, just in your office, etc.), I don't think this item is necessarily. It's a little frustrating at times, so for me, the added protection that it provides is the only thing that makes it worthwhile.

short conclusion report,

Delivery time was good. The digi-pen came without its battery (and I couldn't locate it in the package- had to buy one).
when using with to many pages the electronic image does not work. The use of the pad is not intuitive, nor the attached management software. Reading the manual is essential, in order to start working. I didn't try, yet, the handwrite recognition software, so I can't tell much. The portfolio is good- can be better, since the mini USB port is covered and one have to disattache the device from the portfolio case in order to connect the cable to the port.

I prefer to take handwritten notes when meeting with clients and working up certain reports. Now I can have the best of both worlds. I don't need to be pecking on a laptop which I find distracting during certain work. It's easy to set up and start use for a non-techie like me. My handwriten graphs and illustrations transfer perfectly. I can correct any text after the transfer. Where has this been all my life? Not advertized enough!

I haven't had a chance to use it all that much, but so far it seems quite good, easy to carry (although I recommend the portfolio to go with it). It's a little tricky to get used to at first, but I like it so far.

I was disappointmed in the quality of this product. It is not necessary to have this as part of the digimemo. Save your money. I returned mine for a full refund within a few days of purchase.

DigiMemo L2,

At first I could not down load the Manager soft ware on Vista, although on the box it said it was good for Vista. I downloaded the drivers from the web site...all was going good so I thought, however when I came to use the L2 pad I find that it is out of sync . When you go to write in the top left hand corner..it writes on the screen bottom left corner, then the bottom left is the bottom right and so on. I wrote to "AceCad" a week ago and they did not bother to reply, I would like to know if others have had this problem and how to fix it.
Thank you.

Works great.....when it works,
This review is from: Acecad Digimemo L2 Portfolio (Electronics)
which is about every third or forth time I've tried to use it. Documentation with the device is minimal as is documentation on the manufacturer's web site. Contacting the manufacturer for assistance results in a slow response 3-4 days and isn't always helpful.
I would suggest passing on this and waiting until the concept is better developed.

Actually ZERO stars but website won't accept this without one star.Very disappointing outcome....We were so excited about getting this product...took quite some time to set it up..dowloand software, input practice samples and so on. It recordedthe first couple pages of sample writing and then just stopped. No trouble-shooting suggestions worked. No tech support helped. It may well have been just the pen, in such case, two pens, with batteries, should be included . We sent it back for refund. Ken Johnson
