Book Description

096635379X 978-0966353792 October 7, 2003
SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 is a textbook written with the tutorial point of view with learn-by-doing as the theme. About 35 mechanical engineering industry examples are used as tutorials in this book and an additional 25 as exercises to ensure that the user can relate his knowledge of this book with the actual mechanical industry designs.

This textbook consists of 13 logically sequenced chapters covering the Part, Assembly, and Drawing modes of SolidWorks 2004. Every chapter begins with a command section that provides detailed explanation of the commands and tools in SolidWorks 2004. The command section is followed by tutorials that are created using these commands. This approach allows the user to use this textbook initially as a learning tool and then later use it as a reference material.

Special graphics are provided on the commands or tools that are new in SolidWorks 2004 or are enhanced in this release. This allows the reader to recognize all the new additions and enhancements in SolidWorks 2004.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST buy, December 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I do not write reviews about the books, but I am doing it after reading this book by Tickoo. This is the BEST book for SolidWorks 2004. Someone has written some low star reviews for this book, but it seems that this person has no idea about CAD program or he is doing it with some poor intentions. This book teaches SolidWorks, starting from basics till advance. I did not have any prior knowledge, but I did not have to assume anything, implying all the details that I required were already given in the book. I recommend this book for users of all levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not letting us buy books, December 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
Hi, I am a common user of SolidWorks software and amazon being the major bookstore, I looked for the books here. I wanted to buy a book on SolidWorks 2003 and 2004. But somehow I see some similar kind of 1 star reviews on most of the SolidWorks 2003 books and this 2004 book. Its seems that there is a person around who is posting these reviews for some 2003 books as well as for this book to make sure somehow people dont buy books at all. These reviews are so similar in nature (check the 1 star reivews for this book and those on Planchard's books and tickoo's 2003 book). I bought this book as well as Planchard's book and I did not find any problem as mentioned in these reviews. There is a review that says that the graphics in this book are terrible, but I find them one of the best. The Planchard's books are not bad either. They surely teach whatever they are supposed to.

I thought it as my duty to inform the amazon buyers about this person who is writing 1 star reivews for all the books so that they could ignore these 1 star reivews. I hope I was of some help to these buyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must for all to learn SolidWorks, December 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I am using this book since one month, I feel this book very productive in nature. From the first day the user learns something productive. The text is very much descriptive in nature and the user feels very comfortable while working with the tutorials after going through the theory portion. I have recommended this book to all my colleagues and friends.

Using this book a person can have an hands on experience in the shortest span of time and with the better understanding of the basic design philosophy of SolidWorks. This book is only ment for those who are serious about shaping their career in design using SolidWorks.
