The BEST buy,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I do not write reviews about the books, but I am doing it after reading this book by Tickoo. This is the BEST book for SolidWorks 2004. Someone has written some low star reviews for this book, but it seems that this person has no idea about CAD program or he is doing it with some poor intentions. This book teaches SolidWorks, starting from basics till advance. I did not have any prior knowledge, but I did not have to assume anything, implying all the details that I required were already given in the book. I recommend this book for users of all levels.

Not letting us buy books,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
Hi, I am a common user of SolidWorks software and amazon being the major bookstore, I looked for the books here. I wanted to buy a book on SolidWorks 2003 and 2004. But somehow I see some similar kind of 1 star reviews on most of the SolidWorks 2003 books and this 2004 book. Its seems that there is a person around who is posting these reviews for some 2003 books as well as for this book to make sure somehow people dont buy books at all. These reviews are so similar in nature (check the 1 star reivews for this book and those on Planchard's books and tickoo's 2003 book). I bought this book as well as Planchard's book and I did not find any problem as mentioned in these reviews. There is a review that says that the graphics in this book are terrible, but I find them one of the best. The Planchard's books are not bad either. They surely teach whatever they are supposed to.I thought it as my duty to inform the amazon buyers about this person who is writing 1 star reivews for all the books so that they could ignore these 1 star reivews. I hope I was of some help to these buyers.

Must for all to learn SolidWorks,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I am using this book since one month, I feel this book very productive in nature. From the first day the user learns something productive. The text is very much descriptive in nature and the user feels very comfortable while working with the tutorials after going through the theory portion. I have recommended this book to all my colleagues and friends. Using this book a person can have an hands on experience in the shortest span of time and with the better understanding of the basic design philosophy of SolidWorks. This book is only ment for those who are serious about shaping their career in design using SolidWorks.

Complete reference book,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
Before spending $69 for a book, I wanted to make sure that this book has the right material that I needed so that I don't have to regret later. So I decided to download the free chapters of this book from www.cadcim.com. I liked the way the chapters were presented and so I decided to buy this book. I must say that this book is extremely well laid out starting from the sketching, then part modeling, assembly, and then detailing and drafting. I am a fully satisfied customer of this book. I just love the way author has presented the material and the depth to which he has covered the topics. I contacted the publisher of this book at sales@cadcim.com and received free learning resources that included the part, assembly, and drawing files, solution to exercises and questions, and lot of other material. I think it is a smart decision to first download the free chapters and check whether this is what we want or not. Thanks everyone for letting us do this.

What do you get for $69 ?,
By Jeff Jackson (CT, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I am a new user of SolidWorks, approximately 14 months. Before I used Pro/E, five years. I purchased this book by Sham. I also purchased a SolidWorks 2003 book by Planchard and Planchard. I wanted to learn SolidWorks and to understand the differences between 2003 and 2004. My company will eventual move to 2004. I read reviews on this book; some good and some not so good. In general the book is OK. Nothing great, "not a five star book", but not a one star. The graphics are fine, but I did fine a few mistakes in the menus, and screen shots that are common for 2003. I did you use any of the supplementary materials. I not sure if the 2004 information is correct until we switch. The book does assume that you have previous knowledge of design and jumps from a to z in numerous locations. It is not a step by step book. I question Sham's five star ratings. They sound like he walks on water, also read his reviews on his Pro/E books, in my opinion this is not a five star. I agree with another reviewer that there is someone out there that is writing bad reviews for both Sham and Planchard. Each book has its strengths. I purchased a few of the Planchard and Planchard books and was very happy in certain areas.

Using it without any problem,
By Terry (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I must have been among the first batch of buyers of this book because I received it in the second week of November. Since then, I am using this book day in and day out without any problem. In fact, I rate this book among the top few books I have read. The method of using automatic mirroring that I learnt from this book has increased my productivity because most of the components that I design require that technique. Then I received the learning resources like drawings, answers to exercises, etc from the publisher. This made this book without any doubt the best book I have ever read. But what I see on amazon is that as soon as someone writes a good review about this book, someone else writes a 1 or 2 star review, which is totally fake. I can bet the person writing these 1 or 2 star reviews has not even seen this book, forget about reading it. Well... I cant do anything about it, but I wanted to write a review so that I could express my views about this book. I really liked this book and am sure everyone who uses this book will learn a lot from it. Take my words on it!!!

This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
I got hold of this book recently and am too impressed by the way the author teaches SOlidWorks 2004.The blend of text and graphics in this book can even teach a novice SolidWorks 2004. I shifted from Proe 2001 to SolidWorks. I feel SOlidWorks is a lot better then Proe. Or may be this book made learning easy for me. Through this webiste, I would like to convey my thanks and deep respects to the Author of this book. I recommend this book to all the aspiring designers who want to learn SolidWorks 2004.

Good for an update to new release,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
After the software in your company is upgraded to the new release, the first thing is to make your team familiar with the new features and commands. We had the same challenge and it was made really easy by this book. All the new commands and features have a unique graphic that shows that it is a new feature or an enhanced feature. This saves a lot of time and effort in searching the new features. Although I still feel that the help in the software also is good when it comes to knowing the new features. But this book covers these new topics in depth with models and examples. We are impressed with it.

Good Support Material,
By A Customer
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2004 (Paperback)
The only reason I bought this book was because of all the free support material like drawing files, solution to exercises and questions, tips and tricks...... that is given with this book for free. I like all that material as it saves me lot of time. The other advantage is that if I can't create a model, I can open the one that is provided to me by the publisher and check where am I going wrong. I think it will be good if all CAD books have this facility. Just a thought though...
