Book Description

1932709045 978-1932709049 October 2004
SolidWorks for Designers Release 2005 is a textbook written with the tutorial point of view with learn-by-doing as the theme. About 35 mechanical engineering industry examples are used as tutorials in this book and an additional 25 as exercises to ensure that the user can relate his knowledge of this book with the actual mechanical industry designs.

This textbook consists of 13 logically sequenced chapters covering the Part, Assembly, and Drawing modes of SolidWorks 2005. Every chapter begins with a command section that provides detailed explanation of the commands and tools in SolidWorks 2005. The command section is followed by tutorials that are created using these commands. This approach allows the user to use this textbook initially as a learning tool and then later use it as a reference material.

Special graphics are provided on the commands or tools that are new in SolidWorks 2005 or are enhanced in this release. This allows the reader to recognize all the new additions and enhancements in SolidWorks 2005.

The author provides free technical support to all the users of this textbook. The users can contact techsupport@cadcim.com for any technical query they have.

Couple of years back my company bought 2003 version book from the same author and now we got this one. The books from this author are great learning tools. All my colleagues appreciate these books because we can learn a lot from them. I have a quick question for the author... you had few chapters for free downloading from your website upto 2003 version, are they still available...

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from a CAD Coordinator, January 4, 2005
This review is from: SolidWorks for Designers Release 2005 (Paperback)
I reviewed this book for a possible use in my class during this semester. I am more than satisfied that this is the right book for my class. I will be covering basic and some advanced commands in SolidWorks 2005 and all of them are explained in detail in this book. There are some additional topics in this textbook that would be more useful for the industry professionals. I hope to have a great semester teaching SolidWorks 2005 with this book and the teaching resources that come free with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Design Engineer's Views, December 16, 2004

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, I wan't to express my views about this book. "Simply excellent" is what I feel about this book. I see a great potential in this book to teach anyone Solid Works. I bet no one shall need a teacher if using this book. Designing a part to assembling it and creating detailed drawings, everything in a single book with such a clear explanation and self explanatory graphics is extremely commendable. I recommend this book to every user of Solid Works.
