Book Description

156690191X 978-1566901918 September 28, 1999 2
By zeroing in on the fundamental differences between AutoCAD and SolidWorks, this book is intended to assist design engineers in making a rapid transition from 2D (AutoCAD Release 14) to a 3D (SolidWorks 99) design environment. Now fully updated based on SolidWorks 99 – one of the hottest Windows-native, 3D, parametric modeling applications available – this handy reference includes sample design sessions, command and function cross-references, discussions on data interchangeability, and more. New material is also included on important SolidWorks 99 additions and enhancements, including: 3D dynamic sketching, layering, design table and BOM improvements, “smart mates,” creation of linear and circular patterns in Sketch mode, plus “unrolling” conical sheetmetal models for viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for AutoCad users!, October 2, 1999
By A Customer
I was using Solidworks for most of my college projects and things just can't get easier! The book will frequently do a comparison between AutoCad and Solidworks to illustrate the different concepts behind the two CAD programs. Recommended for new users to experienced AutoCAD users.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good book for learning the Solidworks software., October 21, 1998

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The book guides you through all aspects of the software with step by step instructions on how to use its many features. The thing which makes it better than most tutorials is that it often gives the why's and why not's of using certain methods in addition to the how to's. As the books title suggests it offers a transition from 2d Autocad to solid modeling with Solidworks. The book is not limited to use by Autocad users, anyone new to the software will find it very informative. Written at the Solidworks97 release, it was still very much up to date with Solidworks98.

3.0 out of 5 stars very useful, May 14, 1999
By A Customer
When I purchased this book I felt that it was excellent, it helped in the transition from 2D work to the 3D world. I would recomend this book for any one just starting out in Solid Works. It is also a very good reference for use later on.
