Although the rhythm is repetitious throughout the CD, I still like it the best. His voice is funky and the music great (fantastic harmonica). I dont get tired of listening to it. I prefer this style over the "Chamber Blues", but I bought that CD also. I am getting all the CDs this man puts out. I wish he would cut some more tracks like the ones on this CD. Just 'simply down-home rhythm' that keeps your feet a 'movin...

Simply the Best,

I've been listening to Corky Siegel's performances, live and recorded, since the late 60s in Chicago. If there is a better blues harmonica player anywhere in the world, I have yet to hear that person.

Better known (with Jim Schwall)for being one of the princely leaders of Siegel-Schwall, one of the best blues rocker bands to ever come out of the Southwest Lake Michigan Coast, Corky alone (and with a few friends along like Vasser Clements on "Hobo Bill's Last Ride") on his harp and piano could compose and pound down the blues like very few others. When I saw him in his platter years with Siegel Schwall and again alone in a Madison Wisconsin basement club -- this guy could flat out play and keep the crowd going along with him for three hours of straight out joy. The tunes on this compilation of his two solo disks are classic treasures, regardless of what other reviewers have to see about his later efforts.
Five enthusiastic stars for one of the hardest blowing bluesmen of his generation.

One of Chicago's Finest,
This review is from: Solo Flight 1975-1980 (Audio CD)
Piano, harmonica, songwriting, and showmanship ... quite a package. Corky was one of my "holy trinity" of the 70's Chicago scene (John Prine, Steve Goodman, and Corky Siegel). I was terribly disappointed to see him do "Chamber Blues" live in Carbondale a few years ago. He had no need to reinvent himself by classical music.
