Wonderful Music, Incredible Depth,
This review is from: Solo Guitar (Audio CD)
I had Jim Tozier's first privately released CD, "Castelrea" and thoroughly enjoyed it. His Celtic flavor meets up with my particular tastes from various styles. However, that did not prepare me for this CD, humbly titled, "Solo Guitar".
The writing goes from simple to complex... from folky to sophisticated, with the ease of someone completely in touch with his instrument. The really nice thing about Mr. Tozier's playing, though, is his touch. It matches up with the compositions in such a way that his music is truly compelling, and it's well worth listening many, many times. I'm not usually a fan of solo guitar collections - but this one is truly exceptional, and well worth the time to sit and enjoy. It's great to hear and know that the creation of wonderful music is alive and well! I'm getting ready to listen to his other new release, "Celtic Guitar". I can't wait!

truly outstanding solo guitar work,
This review is from: Solo Guitar (Audio CD)
just when i was about to wear out my copy of 'castelrea' which mr tozier previously released along come this pair of cd's: 'solo guitar' and 'celtic guitar'. his playing is distinctive and the recording is ultra clean and clear on both cd's. i liked 'celtic guitar' nearly exactly as much as i did 'castelrea' which is to say quite a bit indeed. in 'solo guitar' he plays his own compositions and he is not afraid to take chances with symmetry, metre and dissonance with his own arrangements although i admit this album was quite a change having only heard before his arrangements on traditional songs. i would not hesitate to highly recommend his unique talent to anyone no matter their musical tastes if they like solo guitar work in a mellow mode.

...you will be hooked on Jim Tozier's arrangements, original compositions and terrific playing. I own this album as well as Celtic Guitar and always enjoy listening to the clean execution and fine guitar playing. If you enjoy guitar music then Jim Tozier's albums are must haves.

Fantastic skill is demonstrated in this wonderful collection of original works. Peaceful and emotional, this CD has earned a spot in my "go to" library. I highly recommend this CD to those wishing to experience true fingerstyle guitar talent. Can't wait to hear your next CD!

A Great CD,

I recently purchased an MP3 player and dusted off some CD's I had sitting around. Tozier's Solo Guitar was among my collection and I hadn't heard it, or any of my music, for some time. With the MP3 I listen to music much more I find myself repeatedly listening to this CD. If you play guitar you'll appreciate his fingerstyle and the complexity of his music. If you want to hear some of the tracks before you buy Tozier has a website and there are some sample clips there. Finally, not only is the music beautiful, the recording quality is fantastic.
