5.0 out of 5 stars Audacity and Luck
This is a collection of hilarious and true tales in the life of a well known American entrepreneur. Jerry created the infomercial as we know it today. He also created, and lost, a brand that more than 75% of Americans over the age of 30 still recognize. These are the building blocks of that creation. Starting out with getting busted(and beating the rap) for smuggling the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, June 27, 2009
This review is from: The Soloflex Story, An American Parable (Paperback)
I was very excited to purchase this book until I read it. I have been a Soloflex exercise machine user and fan since 1978. I was really looking for this book to tell the Soloflex story not the Jerry L Wilson the pilot and political position story. I really was looking for what key moment drove the construction of this machine. Pictures of the original or prototype. Why he kept adding other Soloflex parts and accessories. What inspired the advertising. More inside stories on the employees and models. More pictures of Soloflex product not planes and jets. It should have been called the Jerry Lee Wilson Pilot Story. There is only one real complete chapter on Soloflex exercise machines when you put it all together. Very disapointing to say the least. I would not suggest buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Audacity and Luck, June 4, 2009
This review is from: The Soloflex Story, An American Parable (Paperback)
This is a collection of hilarious and true tales in the life of a well known American entrepreneur. Jerry created the infomercial as we know it today. He also created, and lost, a brand that more than 75% of Americans over the age of 30 still recognize. These are the building blocks of that creation. Starting out with getting busted(and beating the rap) for smuggling the largest load of marijuana in US history to flying the rich and famous out of Las Vegas on Lear Jets. In between he mixes in other engaging stories revealing personal and business philosophies and observations. This collection will catch you laughing out loud at the audacity of the antics and frankly the luck of this genuine American Character. Easy and fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a pleasure!, June 25, 2009
This review is from: The Soloflex Story, An American Parable (Paperback)
This isn't your typical autobiography, with a linear timeline. This is a collection, loosely put together about the "life and times" of the creator of Soloflex, the best selling homegym, and possibly the most recognized home gym ever. Jerry Wilson is funny, poingant, philosophical, political, and the inventor, all in the pages of his book. This book is about a guy who had an idea, put it on paper, patented it, and ran. Good for him.

I say read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars LIFE CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS, June 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Soloflex Story, An American Parable (Paperback)
What an unbelievable adventure "Mr. Soloflex" made of growing up to be the worlds most famous entrepreneur. Home boy leaves town and beats all the odds. This man definitely has an angel on his shoulder. By humbly sharing his trial and tribulations with the law and the importance of using what you've got to succeed regardless of the unfortunate events experienced it pays not to be a quitter. Not in his wildest dreams did he know one little idea would take him so far and completely change his life. He would like to help you do the same. READ ON - you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Surprise, July 13, 2010
This review is from: The Soloflex Story, An American Parable (Paperback)
I had no idea what to expect when I started this book, and was wonderfully surprised. Jerry has a detached and pragmatic way of looking at his life with a large amount of humor included.

People often wonder about the background of entrepreneurs, thankfully Jerry shared his, warts and all! Not many people are self assured enough to put themselves out that way, and it made the book most interesting because of his humanity.

Soloflex is the American Dream that came to fruition. Jerry wrote a humorous, inspiring and exciting story that proves being at the right place at the right time can have long term consequences...both good and bad!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it, November 18, 2010
This book is first of all not really the Soloflex story. It is the story of the inventor of the Soloflex. Very little of the book has to do with the Soloflex itself. Much of it deals with the author essentially bragging about the criminal exploits of him and his friends.
Mostly a narcissistic piece of crap.
