5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not your grandmother's devotional!, May 10, 2006

Solomon Latte is definitely NOT your grandmother's devotional book!

Ms. Glahn skillfully unpacks Song of Solomon as a work of poetry. Coupling her research into the poetic genre of the day with her expertise in sexual intimacy in marriage, Solomon Latte is one compelling study.

An added bonus- specific questions created for personal application and reflection, and more general questions designed for group discussion. Our small group worked through Solomon Latte and always had plenty to talk about without ever feeling like we were overstepping the lines of propriety. Sex is a topic rarely discussed in the church... Solomon Latte is a breath of fresh air!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Topic for the Women's Bible Study!, April 30, 2006
This review is from: Solomon Latte (Coffee Cup Bible Studies) (Spiral-bound)
Of the Coffee Cup Bible Study series, Solomon Latte is the "hottest." This one also has more of Glahn's excellent commentary. Her scholarship does not detract from the beauty of the poetry or the message of the Song of Songs. She has a real gift for putting culture into context.

This study should open up some real conversations with the group and the husbands!

The Coffee Cup series has the Biblical text printed in the study. I always have it in my briefcase.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will challenge you marriage, make you blush, and get you deeper in the Word., June 20, 2006
This review is from: Solomon Latte (Coffee Cup Bible Studies) (Spiral-bound)
We're going through this study on the Song of Solomon in our Woman's group and they are loving it!
I keep on hearing comments like, "I needed this class 55 years ago." And, "Our young people need to hear this."
This study contains a frank discussion on sex-done-right from God's perspective, that will not only challenge marriages, but also unlock some mysteries in the Song of Solomon that may have been previously perplexing to us.
I took a master's-level class on the "Song of Solomon" and this study still gave me insights I have not heard before. A great resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Highly Recommend This Study Series!, April 25, 2006
This review is from: Solomon Latte (Coffee Cup Bible Studies) (Spiral-bound)
Again in Solomon Latte, Sandra Glahn has taken a portion of scripture and compiled a six-week study that will enrich, encourage, challenge, and comfort the Bible student's life. Glahn's insight into history, customs, language, and culture helped me to read through Song of Songs with an understanding like never before. I highly recommend all four of the Coffee Cup Bible Studies and am looking forward to seeing what comes next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for public discussion, November 24, 2009

This Song of Solomon study is perfect for married couples to discuss together, but way too intimate outside that relationship. Could be why it was half price. Coffee Cup studies have the Scripture included in the workbook, and thoughtful questions to spur good dialogue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tantalizing love story, June 7, 2006

This review is from: Solomon Latte (Coffee Cup Bible Studies) (Spiral-bound)
Leave your inhibitions at the door! In this compelling Bible study, author Sandra Glahn pulls back the curtain on the relationship between King Solomon and his beloved bride, providing a fresh biblical perspective on courtship and marital love as described in the Song of Songs.

Solomon Latte takes a postmodern approach to helping women understand Scripture. It contains powerful illustrations, fun activities, up-to-date language, and high-impact application questions to help today's readers understand the "love story of the ages." Glahn demolishes many of the common Christian stereotypes by providing a balanced, open, and truthful look at God's plan for marriage and sexual intimacy. She also offers readers vital keys for unlocking the romance, mystery, conflict, passion, and intrigue inherent in the original Hebrew text.

Solomon Latte is perfect for both small groups and personal devotions. It will surprise and delight readers while deepening their understanding of God's love and His character in so many ways - and it will spice up their love lives, too! One thing is guaranteed: no one who reads this book could ever think of the Bible as "irrelevant" or "boring." A must-read!
