4.0 out of 5 stars Is It Really That Bad?
Judging from the spate of negative reviews posted here, you would think that Solos, Sessions and Encores is the biggest piece of musical garbage to be released since Justin Timberlake's latest CD. But if you read closely, what you'll find is that most reviewers are just mad that the record company is squeezing yet more profit from the storied legacy of Stevie Ray Vaughan...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just enjoy it
What is wrong with some of these people? I don't think Stevie Ray is coming out of his grave to put out any new material. Enjoy it for what it is, material from the vault that most people haven't heard. Hendrix stuff has been coming out almost 40 years after his death. Zappa has almost 200 hours of material stashed away. The record companies suck, it's true, but this is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stevie Ray Vaughan- one of the best,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)If you are a fan of his, this is a great CD to put into your collection. It's as simple as that.
4.0 out of 5 stars music lover,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)it has some great songs, but it is not what I had anticipated. I guess I should have read the label on the songs a little better. I wanted more Stevie!

2.0 out of 5 stars I didn't believe these reviews (LOVE SRV, but Not this Album),
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)If you are a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan ?? Well, I guess it depends on how ... "Fanatical" a fan you are ?
If you think ANYTHING he was ever involved in was Great? You will love this just as well.
If you Loved his talent and skills as an artist, and Really Liked HIS Music ?--- I think your going to be Disappointed.
I didn't believe the Negative Reviews on the page. They all seemed to get lost in a metaphysical "Hissy Fit" over the Evil Corrupt Record Companies continuing to "Milk" poor SRV after his death. Their complaints sounded more like comments on society and less about the Music.
I Love SRV's Music, his Talent as a Musician, I could only Pray to ever have as much ability as just one of his fingers. I Love His Music......Sadly, This Is Not His Music.
This "Album" is really just a collection of studio tracks and some music from other artists albums where SRV was "Sitting in" and maybe "Playing a few licks"
This is Stevie helping out Other Artists, Not Stevie "Doing his own Thing"
Some of these tracks ..... My God, If you didn't TELL ME Stevie played on them, I would NEVER Have Guessed --- and Probably would have argued with you even after you told me. There are a few that are downright Silly Sounding, others are just annoying. The Live version of "The Sky is Crying" is Great, Good Stevie and the Bright Spot on this otherwise dismal album. a few other tracks didn't make me want to scream for my money back, but I honestly can't say I would have Happily PAID for them, if I had Known what I was in for either.
Overall, Im VERRRRRYYY DISAPOINTED in this. I already have Two version of "Sky Crying" on other albums. While it is different here and has some other "Great's" playing on the track, it is not enough to have a 3rd copy of ONE SONG that was great, with a few so, so's and quite a few "Turn That Stuff Off's" to make this an album worth recommending.
Again, for Hard Core SRV FANATICS anything he touched, looked at, smelled or smiled at, you will love, and that includes this.
For those of us who Really Loved "HIS SOUND", Be Warned, Your Not Going to Hear His Sound Here.

5.0 out of 5 stars SRV-Review,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)I've heard singles on the radio over the years but after awhile I found the local stations play just a few of his selections so I took a chance and tried one of his alblums. I was pleasantly surprised. SRV displays a command of the electric medium which borders on a psychic melding. This is especially displayed in his slower paced numbers which show he has the gift of expressing himself through the medium of music with a sensitivity which speaks to his life experience...
Imagine both SRV and Jimi Hendricks together playing a gig - now there would be a show!

5.0 out of 5 stars More SRV, Can't get enough?,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)Hi,
If you are reading this review, then you must be a true SRV follower as I am.This CD is Stevie jammin' with other blues cats at different stages in his cut short music career. Highlights are Pipeline & Lets Dance.I bet you
wouldn't have brought a Bowie record for this one song that put Stevie on the world stage, but now you can have it.
The live tracks capture Stevie on equal footing with his pears sometimes even holding back so as not to overpower then with his mighty guitar prowess.
Hopefully the SRV Estate will be able to also come up with a DVD of like material for us to remember him by also.

1.0 out of 5 stars And the labels wonder why we all hate them?,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)I absolutely agree with the first reviewer. Any fan of Stevie has at least a handful of thee songs already. Yet again the record company tries to profit by releasing a few 'new' tracks in the hopes of getting the fans to re-buy what they already have. This CD makes an excellent case for single track downloading so fans dont have to buy the same songs oevr and over again just to get a few 'new' tracks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Enough!,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)This release is just another example of record companies desperation to make money off of SRV. Yes there are a few good songs but enough is enough.

1.0 out of 5 stars just plain bad,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)save you cash, this is just another gimmic to make bucks off what belonged on the shelf. I'm sure there is something in the archives that could better this, but this is shameful to release...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rape me!!!,
This review is from: Solos Sessions & Encores (Audio CD)Why do artists and listeners alike hate the record companies? It's because the jackals and weasels try to squeeze every penny out of you with quantity instead of quality. Avoid this and buy a CD Stevie would have wanted you to have. Peace.
