5.0 out of 5 stars Demystifies the Bible for Sincere Seekers of Truth
Masterful, well-researched/documented and very approachable for all audiences. Continues the great tradition of helping Bible students, seekers, skeptics, sages and saints wrestle with genuine and apparent Bible mysteries that have puzzled thoughtful readers for centuries. 1.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Book--If You Enjoy Logical Fallacies and Inaccuracies
I first bought this book in high school ten years ago and enjoyed skimming the chapters. For whatever reason, it ended up in a storage box before I could read it cover to back. As a college graduate now, I pulled out my old childhood things and picked up the book in an attempt to finish it in its entirety. I never finished it: it is now in the trash.

This review is from: Solving Bible Mysteries: Unraveling the Perplexing and Troubling Passages of Scripture (Paperback)
Masterful, well-researched/documented and very approachable for all audiences. Continues the great tradition of helping Bible students, seekers, skeptics, sages and saints wrestle with genuine and apparent Bible mysteries that have puzzled thoughtful readers for centuries. This book places Kennedy in the all-time great apologist list including C.S.Lewis, Josh McDowell, John MacArthur, Hank Hanegraaf, Walter Martin, R.C. Sproul, Norman Geisler and more recently Lee Strobel. Dr. Kennedy is wise to maintain mystery where Scripture does not reveal complete information to resolve; but where genuine progress can be made to understand apparent contradictions, doctrinal dichotomy, paradox, antinomy, this resource provides fresh material for resolution as far as humanly possible. Although obviously a scholar with a penetrating intellect, Dr. Kennedy keeps the conversation practical and down to earth for a wide audience. The goal is not merely information for the mind, but transformation of the heart and edification of the soul. This book achieves all three. It would make a great gift for searching friends who have sincere doubts about the Bible, but it also pulls no punches about the more troubling, difficult truths that need to be faced squarely and reflectively. Well done! Another must-read addition to the personal library!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solving Bible Mysteries through Truth, April 16, 2010
This review is from: Solving Bible Mysteries: Unraveling the Perplexing and Troubling Passages of Scripture (Paperback)
In "Solving Bible Mysteries: Unraveling the Perplexing and Troubling Passages of Scripture" the late great D. James Kennedy delivers an alluring volume that addresses many biblical and theological mysteries. He employs everyday language as he gives fine exposition of many "problem passages" in the biblical text. If you have been confronted by skeptics who throw around scripture in order to try to confound you, herein Dr. Kennedy helps solve numerous theological vexations as provides many reasonable solutions.

Within "Solving Bible Mysteries" the reader will discover:

- How predestination relates to man's will
- Why the God of love sends sinners to everlasting hell
- What is real eternal security
- How to solve alleged bible contradictions
- Why the doctrine of the Trinity is not a contradiction
- And much more.

The author offers potent and orthodox elucidation concerning creation, the Trinity, Christ's resurrection, and much more. This is a fine book to add to an apologist's collection of books regarding of bible difficulties. Evidential in its epistemic platform as Kennedy argues with great rigor like a trained barrister.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Book--If You Enjoy Logical Fallacies and Inaccuracies, December 26, 2010

I had not read for an hour before I found paragraphs of prominent embarrassing Hebrew language transliteration errors and at least one "stacking the deck" fallacy caused by quoting one sentence of a Bible verse--and blatantly ommitting the entire last half of that sentence.

As a person who has studied Hebrew language intensively at the university-level, and been held to a high standard of academic research and rigor myself, this book is unacceptable.

I do not wish to offend the late James Kennedy, but this work is not an objective treatise that promotes truth about the Bible, it is merely his effort to push his particular modern denomination and the "church fathers" whose authority he unapologetically appealed to, yet failed in their reasonable method of apologetics.

Don't buy this book.

This was an ok book to read, just a little to one sided for my taste, but still a good book.
