My Norwich Terrier is 13 pounds, but very stocky, and previous booster seats were far too small for him, despite being labeled for up to 20 pounds. He can lie down in this one and the method of support via the bottom gives him a much more unobstructed view. It fits easily on a back bench seat as well as a front bucket seat, essential for trips with my husband. We did a three-hour drive recently and Izzy was able to easily see out the window for as long as he wants and then curl up for a nap. I strongly recommend using this with a harness rather than just a collar. This could easily fit two sub-10 pound dogs like Poms or Yorkies, etc. and comes with two harness straps, which is a really nice touch.

i had a hard time finding a booster seat for my 32-lb french bulldog as most dog booster seats are for dogs <25 lbs. this seat has worked out really well. also, the lining washed well after an especially dirty time at the park. and customer service was friendly and responded quickly when i contacted them by email. ... updated 12/08: i contacted customer service about a broken piece more than a year after i purchased the booster seat. they were fantastic. responded quickly and resolved the problem asap. i would definitely purchase another one of their products.

We have 2 Aussie terrier pups that will ultimately grow to 18+ pounds. We tried the Kyjen Outward Hound but was disappointed in how the front of the seat collapses while installed. The Kyjen is rated to 20 pounds, but I wouldn't trust it. This product by Solvit is far more substantial and will hold the specified claimed weight, but I don't know why a 40# dog would even need a car seat to look out. If for a smaller dog, there is plenty of room for sleeping. The seat is easily installed/removed and collapses easily. The only negative point is the lack of color selection by the manufacturer. If you like beige/light gray, your dog will enjoy this seat.

We have a (slightly overweight) 30-pound mixed dog and we purchased this extra large booster seat for him a couple of weeks ago. The seat was easy to assemble and easy to install using a headrest to secure it. Instead of our dog being all over the place in the car, he stays in the seat where he belongs! But because the bottom of the car seat does not sit directly on the seat, it "bottoms out." We had to add a cushion under the seat to prevent this. Smaller, lighter, dogs probably wouldn't cause the bottom to sag. Overall, a good seat and we'd recommend it.

We had a tiny problem with the assembly. There was a piece that was supposed to be attached to something else which wasn't...but we made it work. The size is fine for my small (28 pound) cocker spaniel.

The miracle is that she actually likes it. The only time she ever complained was once when she had gotten the little tether thing up under her armpit. I felt bad because I was saying "no, now be quiet." Now, if she complains, I check to be sure she hasn't gotten herself in an uncomfortable position.

I just leave it in my mini-van all the time. There was no problem getting her used to it. In a short time, when we'd go out to the car, she'd be trying to climb up into it all by herself. She knows that's her spot.

Best of all, she's not crawling all over me while I'm trying to drive, put on makeup, talk on my cell phone, and drink coffee all at the same time. :)

My husband and I purchased 2 of these "XL" seats for our rat terriers (15lbs and 20lbs each) and could not be happier. After trying many different brands and designs (Outward Hound seat, seat belt harness cover, etc.) we chose the Solv-it pet booster seat. The main reasons why I like these seats are:
1) Elevated baskets. The dogs can see out the window. This was extremely important b/c our puppy would get car sick when i held him on my lap or when we put him in his crate in the back of the car. He has never gotten sick since using this car seat. Also, we lent a seat to one of our friends whose dog has gotten sick on every car ride (even short ones!. For the first time ever, the dog did not throw up while in this seat.
2) The dogs are safe & secure. The dogs wear a harness which attaches to a short, adjustable strap that attaches to the seat/basket. They can lie down, stick their heads out the window, or just sit and enjoy the view...but they cannot get out of the seat/basket and are safe when making sharp turns and quick stops. Also the seats are very sturdy and the straps that go around the actual/human car seat and headrest really secure the dog seat/basket tightly to the back of the actual/human seat.
3) The size of seats. We've found that size charts on dog car seats are often not true to life. The XL size is perfect for our dogs - they have plenty of room to lie down. We have put them both in one car seat/basket, but it's a little tight for them.
4) Car trips are fun, easy, and enjoyable. I take these dogs everywhere now! Drive thrus, dog parks, vet, and to visit friends and family. The dogs are completely entertained and I don't have 35lbs of dog squirming on my lap for a view out the window. It's a win-win.

Additional note: the inner lining is machine washable, which is great.

I would recommend this product to anyone, just be careful what size you order!

My 15lb Shih Tzu enjoys sitting up higher on the car seat. She also doesn't fly around the car anymore when I make sudden stops. One of the strap hooks broke about 2 weeks after purchase. I had to find something to replace it. It is not very durable. I haven't had a chance to contact the manufacturer to see if they will replace the strap.

This is a great seat for two small dogs I have a 20lb Shih-tzu and a 5lb Maltease they both fit easily in seat with room to lay down if they like. It fits very well on your seats you can even attach your seat belt for added protection. Love It!!!

Easy to install, easy to use. My pug is about 20 lbs and this is perfect for her. She can sit or lay down in comfort. She's less nervous about riding in the car now, and I'm less nervous about having her with me! I also purchased a harness instead of using her collar to distribute the impact in case I have to stop short.
