why do pet stores not carry this and other useful dog/car products? this is a great replacement for my beach towel that i've been using as a seat cover. my dog is primarily my only passenger, but i don't see removal and installation of this to be too much of a hassle. my only complaint is that it's slippery and my dog slips around while sitting or standing up and he's a large dog. if you have small dogs or an elderly dog with arthritis, i don't recommend this product due to possible slipping/falling during turns and breaking. numerous times my dog has slid forward and headbutted me while breaking. i now have a barrier to prevent that.

I did not have a problem with the solvent smells that others have described, and I'm pretty sensitive to those kinds of smells. I have a Honda CR-V and it fit very well. Easy to put in and easy to take out. The seatbelts fit through slats, so you don't need to take it out when the kids go in (in fact, it protects from kid spills too!)

I think it's a pretty great product. Ugly color! ;)

I bought this to protect the seat of our new Prius from our 2-year-old, and so far so good! It covers just about the whole seat, stays in place, and resists spills. The only drawback is that you cannot use the middle seatbelt while the cover is in place. Not that big a deal for our needs, because the car seat is one one side and it doesn't really leave enough room for two more people to sit back there anyway.

The surfact of the seat cover is indeed heavy-duty as described. It is a neutral color so it blends nicely in my car.

Since this is a one-size-fits-all cover, it doesn't fit my car very well (in my opinion, one size fits all means it doesn't fit anything). That is not totally unexpected. I don't have headrests but I was able to loop the straps around the back of my seats when folded down then closed it back up. That works relatively well. Unfortunately, the lower straps, to attach to the horizontal part of the seats, work very poorly. They attach both a elastic strap as well as a strap with a hook. There isn't enough unobstructed space under my seats for the elastic strap and there is no where to attach the hook. So, it often rides up, leaving a good chunk of the seat uncovered. I haven't figured out a workaround for that yet.

I bought this one, in particular, because it had holes for the seat belt clips to come through. In case it was needed, I was going to buy a seat belt harness for the dog. I should state that I bought the cover not simply to keep dirt and hair off of the seat but also to keep the dog from destroying my car. He had, on a couple of occasions, nibbled on my seat belt and looking hungryly at the seats themselves. On the first day, he grabbed the cover near the seat belt hole and tore a 5 inch section of the seat cover. Where the seat belts come through is a weakness in the cover. I think this is the only place that it could be torn. I guess he was just lucky to choose that place. I do plan to tape them up.

My dog gets car sick, and this waterproof seat cover allows for easy cleanup. I recommend it for anyone who wants to protect their back seat from their dogs claws and/or bodily fluids.

This was a replacement for one we got at Target. It is easier to install, but doesn't always stay in place. It can be adjusted to fit different vehicles, but is not big enough for our new Pilot The backing cracks so washing is now a challenge.

This product works well for keeping the major dirt off my seats. Makes going to dog beach possible again. It washes up in washer nice and never noticed the smell discussed in other reviews. The hook holes need to be strenghtened they look like they may tear soon. Easy to install and remove. I put a waterproof pad down under the area where the seat belt holes are, keeps sand out, I would rather not have the seatbelt holes, with 2 dogs not able to have someone sit in backseat with dogs anyway. The cover stays on well.
1 thing I have a problem with is the hooks rubbed my leather seat at the top leaving a dark spot that won't come off. I now put a cloth under the hooks against the seat to prevent more of this. Would probably be fine with cloth seats but be aware when you install that this happens.
2nd thing is the seat cover isn't quite long enough for my Avalon and the ends of my seats get real dirty. Seat cleaning by car wash didn't get it clean very well.
Gave it a 4 because of the hook issue.

I bought this seat cover last year for a 2001 Volvo cross country. It has now made the transition to a 2009 Yaris sedan with ease. I often seat belt my 3 pugs in the back so I don't worry about them being hurled about during a quick stop. I have also used it while transporting muddy ruggers home from a game (with seat belts)and it has kept the car clean. It washes well, but takes a day or to thoroughly dry unless you can hang it in the sun. Unlike others I never had a problem with the smell. I think it is a great product for the price.

I have not actually used the seat cover yet. Although it looks durable and rugged, it smells strongly of solvents. I have had it hanging out on the clothes line since I bought it 3 weeks ago. I will probably put it to use this week. I recommend hanging it out in the fresh air prior to using it or you will think you have a leak in your fuel line.

I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this, but after a few months of use it is fantastic!!! Our Boykin Spaniel, jumps in wet paws and all and this thing really keeps the seats dry and clean.

Easy install and uninstall. Probably takes less than 5 minutes.

I definitely recommend this product.
