Easy installation and removal.
CR
There is no way to move them at all so even if you have headrests, if they're not in exactly the right place, the straps for the back seat won't work.
rjohn
Keeps the car seat clean when the dog is wet and keeps the dog hair off the seats.

I've had this product in my car for 3 weeks now. I was worried about purchasing due to the top two reviews who claimed it had a toxic smell. Due to those I almost did not purchase, but I'm glad I did. The product did have a nylon/plastic smell when first removed from the box, but I didn't even notice it after taking the first trip with it in and the windows down. The product is super simple to use, and is very easy to remove and reinstall for different guests (human or dog). After 3 weeks there is no odor at all, so please do not let this hold you back from buying.

Okay - I've had this product for about a month now, and I must say I love it. I'm not sure why so many people say it has a toxic odor to it. The first thing I did when I took it from the box was smell it! I was sooo worried that it would stink so bad like everyone had said and that my dog might risk fainting in the back seat from the stench, but no ... it had a slight 'new' smell to it, but that was about it. It surely wasn't a horrid smell that would make me want to return it, and the smell is gone now. Another reviewer said it best by comparing it to a new backpack smell. Don't let the negative reviews about the smell steer you from this product, as it really works like it says.

I also saw some reviews about people complaining that it couldn't hold the weight from their larger breed dogs, which leads me to believe that they didn't allow enough 'slack' and may have stretched the hammock too much, causing the straps (which are pretty durable) to break. The hammock isn't meant to hold/suspend dogs, it's meant to lay on your back seat and provide a cover, so just want to make sure that's clarified.

I have a small 2 door coupe, and it fit perfectly in my car. It was very easy to put in (took less than 5 mins), and is very easy to manuever so that I can put one side of the hammock down to allow my dog to get in the back of the car (since there aren't any back doors). She hops right in, and I can easily put the hooks back up so that the hammock captures all the hair from falling/flying on the backs of my seats/floors.

Another thing I like about it is the fact that you can use it as both a hammock, and as a regular bucket seat cover. I don't see why anyone would spend their money on the bucket seat type, when this basically serves both purposes AND comes with pockets.

I would recommend this product to anyone transporting a dirty dog. My Golden Retriever no longer falls in the space in front of the seat when I must decelerate quickly. I us it in my Honda civic and it is fine; there is a bit of dip in the hammock in front of the seat due to the small size of my car, but it is much better than my dog falling in the space between the front and back seats. There are snaps on each of the straps designed to wrap around the headrests, but I keep the straps long enough to just lift over the headrest for an even quicker removal of the blanket when required. The only design change I would make is to not have the seat belt slots in the blanket, as sand and dirt will go through them onto the car seats. I often turn the blanket around so that the slots are towards the front and the pockets on the back, so that any dirt that falls through the slots will go on the floor and not on the upholstery. Duct tape might help.

I purchased this hammock last year.
I have 2 dogs that love car rides. This hammock has been great.

I'm not sure why it received negative reviews.
I've had no problems with this hammock. No frays or tears after months & months of use.

It is easy to attach / detach.
Seatbelts fit thru the slots.
We have seat belt harnesses attached to the buckled seat belts.
The hammock helps keep our dogs from sliding off off the edge of the seat.

The pockets are really handy too. I use them to hold bottles of water or poop-pickup bags.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

We are buying another one for our other car. Our dog loves her hammock, we love it because it is easy! It installs and removes in seconds, it's portable, it fits any size vehicle, it washes well, love the pockets for storing -water, travel dish, bags, etc... We also discovered if you forget your leash, remove a strap and you have an instant leash! And it's water proof, living in Seattle we need waterproof. I highly recommend this item.

This hammock is great. I have leather seats so my dog could not ride in the car and all covers would slip off the seat. I bought the hammock for a trip and it was awesome. Did not have to worry about toenails going into seat nor the hair in my car. It also keeps him from sliding off the seat.

My dog weighs 75lbs, about the size of the Golden in the picture, and the product ripped from its supports after just one week. She is a calm dog and the product did not undergo and undue abuse. Most of all, the smell is awful, even after rinsing and air drying.

My email to Solvit. Never received a reply.

On October 16, 2010, I bought the Solvit 62283 Deluxe Bench Seat Cover for Pets.
It was fantastic. Exceptionally well made. Looks great, fits great.

On May 30, 2011, I bought another. Exactly the same product. Same model number. Same page on Amazon.
This one is junk. Thin material, poorly constructed, feels cheap. I hate it.

Both from Amazon. Both from the same product page.

So my question. What happened in the space of one year?

Here's what I think. I think you created an excellent product, collected the 5-star Amazon reviews, then switched to a cheaper manufacturer to save money.

Am I wrong?
