I used to tow my Bassett Hound around on an old, cheap version of a Burley. It worked okay, but finally gave up the ghost. I hesitated a little before spending money on this, but now that I've got it, I have to say, it was the best money I've spent in a long time. It was easy to assemble, and my dog and I BOTH love it. I get my exercise towing her around, she gets hers when I let her out for a run at the dog park or a walk around the lake we bike to. And we both get to spend time together. Best of all - it's just plain fun and I never have to bike alone again! Well worth the money spent already. I haven't noticed any negatives yet. There's no noticeable drag towing her, though it is a good workout going up hill. (I sometimes have her get out and she runs up the hill alongside me if it's safe). It rides smoothly and appears very comfortable for her. I love the soft cushion inside. It's roomy, has pockets and folds down easy for traveling/transport. The company seems good too. I wasn't sure whether to get the large or the medium, so I called the company directly. A helpful human answered the phone and answered every question I had quite patiently. Never transferred me or put me on hold. A pleasant experience. If you have a dog and like to bike. You'll love it. My dog is 37 pounds. She measures about 28" long from the base of her tail to the tip of her nose and roughly 19" high at the head when sitting. I'll try to upload some pictures.

My wife purchased this for me as a Christmas gift to haul around our two dogs. We have a 25 pound Welsh Corgi and a 10 pound mini Dachshund.

What I like about it: Both dogs fit easily into the large trailer and enjoy riding in it. It has a large padded cushion covering the floor that appears to provide a comfortable ride. The trailer is attached to the bike with a bar that has a large spring that provides some shock absorption. The trailer looks good and all the zippers and connectors work as designed. The trailer folds up easily into an approximate 2' x 3' x 6" package with the wheels stored inside the trailer when folded.

Things I didn't like: First I'll say my issues were with initial assembly, and after I made some modifications I don't expect to have any more problems.

While reading reviews about the trailer before putting it on my "wish list", I noted that some people opened the trailer up and got their pets to go inside it before trying to take them for a ride. That made since to me so the morning I received it I opened it in the living room with the wheels off so the dogs could go in and out of it. The sides fold open and are held in place by a cross bar on the top back corner. A screw-in knob is used on each side to connect the cross bar to the side frames. The first problem I encountered in assembly was I couldn't get the knob on one side to thread in and tighten. I ended up having to drill out a larger hole in the side frame to get the two pieces to align correctly.

The next step of assembly involved mounting the wheel axle supports to each side of the frame.

I ordered this to take my 30lb beagle-mix with to the local bike trails. I have a Walkydog...and he loves running next to my bicycle...but because there's a lot of traffic getting to the bike trail area around my house...I've had to drive to the trail head. Put rack on car...bike on rack...bike off rack...rack off car...it's a lot of work even before the bicycling has started. So I thought a dog trailer would be perfect.

I pre-trained my dog with the bicycle trailer...treating him for getting in and out of it...and rolled him around the house in it. The photos show letting the dog stick their head out the top...or front.

Don't do it.

Though the restraints inside the carrier will keep your dog from jumping out...they will NOT keep your dog from ruining the zipper. In his joy to be barking at cars and feeling the wind flap in his ears...my dog bit/clawed through the lightweight zipper on the top of the carrier.

I can probably take this to my local shoe repair shop...and have them install a new zipper...larger...with heavy metal teeth...but I don't think I should HAVE to. The product should have been designed with claws, paws, teeth....in mind.

In every other way...it works just as advertised...but I'm looking at a possible $30-$40 zipper repair for something I just purchased. And my dog is going to be disappointed when I no longer let him stick his head out of the top for fear of ruining the new zipper.

UPDATE:

The people at Solvit Customer Service...totally rock!! I emailed them about the zipper problem and they sent me a complete replacement topper for the cart. Really fantastic of them! I'm going to train my dog a little longer with the "chewed" one before replacing it. I still think the zipper could have been designed better...but the folks at Solvit were wonderful.

My dogs love it and don't mind that it rocks or moves, you can see from the photos that they even like sleeping in there. I coaxed the older one in with treats and just put the little puppy in, she's now 37 pounds and just jumps in... My dogs love it. Make sure you strap them in to keep them from trying to jump out if you want to keep the front window open. A couple small quirks like when you roll up the back window the velcro doesn't quite align correctly but I don't see that as enough of an issue to take away a star. We got the stroller conversion kit too and that did have a problem that one of the holes to put the cotter pin through to lock the handle in place wasn't in the right place and I had to re-drill it, nothing major since the functionality is still great. At half the price of some of the competing offerings I wholeheartedly endorse the Solvit dog trailer. I also like the shape of this one much better without a sloping front like some of the expensive competitors, the dogs are more comfortable and it fits a Costco load of groceries. I volunteer at the Humane Society and pack a lot of dogs into kennels and crates and I'd recommend that if your dog finds it too wobbly, take the wheels off and coax it into the trailer on flat ground a few times, maybe give the pup a meal in there and put in something that smells familiar and safe like a favorite blanket or pillow and remember to "click and treat."

Note, I posted the a nearly identical review for the same product from an outside vendor.
