5.0 out of 5 stars real music
You can put this album in and just play it all the way through. I suspect Greenwheel will have many more good ones to came after listening to this CD. I love these guys. Thier music is down to earth and positive.

2.0 out of 5 stars okay
Some stuff is catchy, I especially like "Disappear", but mostly they sound the same as as myriad of other bands (default, creed, etc etc). If you like that stuff you'll like this. Personally I've had more than my fill of that sound. There is nothing remotely new here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality hard rock has a new name, July 9, 2002

I'm not easily impressed. I love the song "Shelter," so I picked up the CD. I went track after track, wondering when it was going to start..., like so many CDs with one or two hard driving hits and weak filler. This CD only gets stronger, track after track, listen after listen.
Let's compare it to Matchbox 20's first CD. "Long Day" came out, I ran out and bought the CD. The rest of the CD was middle of the road, watered down rock. This Greenwheel CD is what the rest of the MB20 CD should have sounded like. (What do I know? It only sold a bizillion copies.)
A more accurate comparison would be to Fuel. "Louder than Words" sounds very much like "Jesus or a Gun." "Breathe" would fit nicely Fuel's latest CD. The rest of the Greenwheel CD is more hard driving rock.
My favorite tune on the CD is "Drowning Man," but the whole is CD is very, very consistently good. Make no bones about it: this CD rocks from start to finish. There is absolutely no need to skip tracks on this CD, which is hard to find these days.
Another thing I like about this CD is the production. The music is equally as loud as the voice track. It's not just a pretty voice with ear candy in the background. The rock hits you in the face, giving your speakers a good workout.
BUY IT. Though Greenwheel will be compared to other artists, they have plenty to call their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greenwheel's Debut CD "Soma Holiday" holds hit after hit!, July 3, 2002

Greenwheel's debut CD titled, "Soma Holiday" contains hit after hit. The band delivers an incredible rock sound with their souls poured into songs like "Shelter" and "Identity." Other tracks that deserve a great deal of attention are "Dim Halo", "Drowning Man" and "Louder Than Words" to name a few. This band is definitely one of the rising stars to be on the watch for. Their lyrics, combined with the excellent performances of the musicians make for a rock sound that must be listened to over and over again. Contemporary rock bands Default, Injected, and now Our Lady Peace are touring with this hot new band around the country this summer. This is truly a masterful CD that should be part of everyone's collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few GOOD albums out, July 1, 2002

Alright you guys, listen up. These guys are tearing up the track like nobody's buisness. It's my prediction that these guys SHOULD blow bands like Default and Nickelback out of the water. They are opening for Default right now, but I feel they should be headlining the tour. I don't know how they are live, but their stuff really reaches out to you and immerses you with an overall good sound. Most bands don't know balance, with each member trying to be an individual. These guys have it figured out and are kicking ass. Don't miss out on this one, you definately will regret it if you do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over and over again the CD spins, November 1, 2002

See, Amazon.com serves a wonderful purpose. The reason I got this album was because of all of the great reviews I saw on here, regarding this album. Radio here sparsely plays "Breathe", so I thought this was a Modern Rock one hit wonder band. Well, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Soma Holiday is a refreshing collection of catchy songs that enable the listener to spin the entire CD without skipping a track. It's a rarity you find an album like this. This is the best album I've heard since the Foo Fighers "There is Nothing Left to Lose". My favorite songs include "Breathe", "Sustain You", "Identity", "Dim Halo", "Disappear", and "Radiance". This album is Grammy worthy. Word of mouth begins here.

5.0 out of 5 stars every track is awesome, July 10, 2002

I went to a concert of theirs about a few weeks ago. They were one of the opening bands for Default, and their performance was awesome. The next day I went out and bought their cd, and every song on it is really good! It is totally worth buying.

I personally feel that Greenwheel is an awesome band. There debut album shows it. The lyrics are well written and Ryan does a great job singing them. The music is great. The whole band works well together. All in all the band is great and there music rocks. If I could spread the word about the best new CD out there it would deffinitly have to be Greenwheels Soma Holiday.

This is THE BEST start-to-finish CD i have ever heard. The band could literally write the names of all twelve tracks on paper and draw from a hat to choose their next single, because any one of them would do well. A cross between Matchbox 20 and Fuel is probably more accurate than the one given. "Breathe" has been mentioned to be the next single, and there is no doubt in my mind that it will do for them what "How You Remind Me" did for Nickelback. Few people have heard of them now, but by the end of 2002, Greenwheel will be a household name. Believe it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan From The Start, July 2, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Soma Holiday (Audio CD)
I am older than thirteen, I just didn't want to have to go through the whole ordeal of signing up with Amazon. I have been a fan of Greenwheel since they first began. The CD is wicked awesome. If you like Nickelback, The Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox20 and other bands like those you would like greenwheel. I know that the guys can pull through with this and make many more great great albums.
