These girls are full of vitality and vigor. If you like harmony, you'll love this CD. Some songs are really funny, cute and very imaginative. I bought it on a whim and loved it. I am planning to buy all of their CD's.

An excellent "fun" album,

The four women in the group obviously enjoy making great "folk pop" music together. The tunes are very catchy (really instantly memorable) and both the lead vocals and the harmonies are buoyant and well done.

As fans already know, this "group" is actually an ever-revolving quartet of various great women singer-songwriters, created/supported by Christine Lavin to showcase such folks she met in her nationwide travels, who either couldn't or didn't want to commit to music fulltime. [Sad that this cool concept hasn't been furthered by other famous mentors, over time.]
Anyway, if you look at all the Bitchin' Babes albums and their overall consumer ratings, this one beats all, by a long shot. I happen to think that's largely due to one big variable, Suzzy Roche. She was only with the Babes during this one window. But the signature imprint of the unique harmonies and unusual arrangements of The Roches (Suzzy's regular long-time sister group) is all over this album. Her own song "Spear Carrier" surpasses the Roches' own many songs inspired by her early, competitive-artist romantic relationship with Loudon Wainwright. But also, the extraordinary background touches you'll hear in the songs of the other women - like Camille's lovely "These Ruby Shoes" - can come from nowhere but the "Roche-music" influence. And noteworthy in its own right, check out Debi Smith's "Bob Dylan's Poetry". Speaking for fellow (still innocently romantic) (okay, and female) boomers who were coming-of-age in the mid to late 60s ... Wow.

Very disappointed. Got this CD to play while working on my computer. It does not play on the computer. I am assuming that it is because it has some encryption code to prevent putting it on the computer. However, it does work on a normal CD player. And the studios wonder why album/CD sales are going down. At the very least, there should be some kind of a warning or declaration that it will not work on a computer. I will not buy this artist ever again, nor will I buy another CD from this studio!
