5.0 out of 5 stars something wonderful.
i loved the movie, so i wanted to see if the book gave anything extra. alot of it is line for line in the movie, so i pretty much scan read those parts. but it did have some extra dialog in it. it extends on some of the lines that wasn't in the movie. also watts was willing to help keith out in another way. if your a big fan of the movie, i'd check it out. i think this is...

3.0 out of 5 stars A nice story based on "Some kind of wonderful" movie
The book was written right after the release of "Some kind of wonderful" and David Bischoff follows the story very closely to the movie plot, often taking dialogues directly from the movie, word by word. The dialogues, however, lose their edge because the author omits "inappropriate" language. For instance, at the beginning of the movie Duncan asks Watts how long has...

3.0 out of 5 stars A nice story based on "Some kind of wonderful" movie, September 13, 2004
This review is from: Some Kind of Wonderful (Mass Market Paperback)
The book was written right after the release of "Some kind of wonderful" and David Bischoff follows the story very closely to the movie plot, often taking dialogues directly from the movie, word by word. The dialogues, however, lose their edge because the author omits "inappropriate" language. For instance, at the beginning of the movie Duncan asks Watts how long has she been a lesbian. In his book, however, D. Bischoff translates that into " How long have you been a tomboy?" and the rest of Duncan's dialogue with Watts (right before the fight broke out) is omitted. This trend is followed carefully throughout a book, which appears to be geared toward middle school kids.
Most of the time, D. Bischoff stays true to the story. He also added some scenes that were not in the movie, such as Watts telling Keith at the end that he will have to return diamond earrings he just gave her because he needs the money to go to art school.
Overall, if you love the movie you will probably like the book. In my opinion, reading the production script would have been much more interesting, but alas it is not available.

This review is from: Some Kind of Wonderful (Mass Market Paperback)
It's about a boy named Keith and and tom boy named watts. Keith really adores this girl Amanda Jones, but she has this big popullar guy Hardy Jenns. She breaks up with Hardy because he's is dating other women behing her back. When Keith hears about that he goes nuts and asks her out. of course she says yes. Then he buys her these diamond ear rings with his college money and his dad blows his top! then one night he takes her to one of Hardy's parties. When drummergirl drops them off she waits outside just thinking about Keith. When Hardy and Keith get into a fight some of Keith's detention friends beat Hardy up and tell Hardy to leave them alone! When Keith and Amanda are getting ready to leave Drummergirl gets all mad because she loves Keith and she knows that Amanda is just playing Keith. So Drummergirl is walking to her house and Keith stops her and takes Amanda's ear rings he gave her then runs up to drummergirl, and kisses her and gives he the earrings.
