5.0 out of 5 stars Hot damn!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent stuff....Really bad dudes
This album isn't really bad as far as modern metalcore goes. Nothing fantastic at all; a lot of the other people reviewing this album make it out like On Broken Wings is about to explode into something huge and amazing. That is really not true. Right now, they are as big as they can hope to ever be.

Bottom line is, this stuff is okay. Nothing really...

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense, Hella Hard Album, July 2, 2003
This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
Ok, on the one hand I do sort of agree with the reviewer, Andy: this may not be the most groundbreaking cd, it has been done before. But, this cd is still awesome. It's extremely hard, great vocals, very intense, all around niceness. They take a sound that has been done before them, but they've made it their own and do it so well. If your a fan of hardcore music, with Death Metal vocals and some melodies, pick this up.
Best Song: "The Spawning of Progression".

Good good. People really need to not be so critical on bands. On Broken Wings has come out with a near perfect CD. "some of us may never see the world" is by far, a metalcore/grindcore/deathcore classic that every fan should own. The vocalist is actually very original, moving from earth shaking lows, so converge style highs. The music on this album is literally unexplainable. It mixes so many elements of music it is just in its own catagory of greatness. They throw in a few chugga chugga breakdowns("I do my crosswords in pen" for exe) which fit perfectly in the songs. Most other songs on pretty much a massacre of different styles that mesh together perfectly to form a sound all their own. I highly reccomend downloading "As you speak", That is by far the best song on the album. About 30 seconds into the song, it bombards you with one of the most brutal transitions I have ever heard. no joke. do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You def wont regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars not original but who is these days, June 15, 2005
This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
This might not be original material and the recording could have been better but they know alot more about rythm and groove then most metalcore bands. This cd is all out and take no prisoners, relentless mosh with chuggy breakdowns, all around great guitars, drums, bass, vocals the works. deathcore + metalcore = moshpits

have good mosh pitting!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars on broken wings, November 15, 2004
This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
this CD is superp,
you can actually listen to this entire album in one sitting without turning it down or skipping tracks...
(which is saying alot, alot of grindcore/metalcore bands can have a few songs that are annoying)

but on broken wings breaks the mold,
constant change, (yet not random)
this band will have you constantly guessing whats going to happen next,
whether its, a sample from cupcakes, or another brutal transition
you will find yourself moshing in your grandmas kitchen after you buy this cd! (seriously)

this band is going to be huge, i dont think anyone couldve hoped for a better debut...

the first track, "maybe the earth is flat", builds, and builds, untill finally exploding onto "listless"

if you listen to metal, you will love this cd, or atleast most of it..

just remember not to punch anyone in the face while your blasting it... :)

5.0 out of 5 stars In A Genre Full Of Nothing They Give Us Something, January 11, 2005

Well On Broken Wings is definatly a mighty contender in the world of hardcore or metalcore or whatever u classify something like this. This genre is being absoloutly flooded with crap now a days, with alot of bands starting to sound similar. This debut is definatly impressive when it comes down to the music.

The Good: Like i mentioned above, this genre is being flooded with crap that all sounds the same. On Some Of Us May Never See The World, On Broken Wings definatly delivers something new. Its alot heavier then most bands like to deal with. I mean the whole cd is heavy with maybe a couple moments of tranquility. And the breakdowns are absoloutly amazing.

Best Songs: "Giving Up The Ghost", "I Do My Crosswords In Pen", "Like Starscream", "As You Speak".

The Bad:Well i rated this monster a 5 out of 5 so u gotta assume that there isnt that much bad about it at all. However, there are times when the singer will make his voice incredibly deep and slow when a breakdown happens. It kinda reminds me of cannibal corpse when he does that, and i am not a fan of cannibal corpse at all. Also like i said in "The Good" part of my review this cd is incredibly heavy and not everyone will like it unless u can take the heaviness of the album.

Worst Songs: There isnt a bad song but "Maybe The World Is Flat" gets annoying when he screams really low pitched at the end..Like i stated above it sounds alot like Cannibal Corpse.

What It All Comes Down To: Some of Us May Never See the World
is a stellar album with only minute flaws. I gave it a perfect score because i really, really enjoy this album. It gives a breath of fresh air in a genre that needs to breath. And i would suggest it to any one that wants a heavy album to listen to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Listen....., February 16, 2004

Im a hardcore/metalcore listener, and honestly this is something i would like to see live. Most bands lack in transition. This band however doesnt lack in much. With the exception a howling girlish scream on one of the tracks, this band hit right on the money with what they were trying to get across. Not many underground bands can do that. I would say if you like bands like UNEARTH, NORA, or even you sell-out poison the well (a band that strayed away from metalcore scene)you can actually listen to this cd all the way through and not get sick of it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent stuff....Really bad dudes, August 7, 2006
This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
This album isn't really bad as far as modern metalcore goes. Nothing fantastic at all; a lot of the other people reviewing this album make it out like On Broken Wings is about to explode into something huge and amazing. That is really not true. Right now, they are as big as they can hope to ever be.

Bottom line is, this stuff is okay. Nothing really original, but decent. However, I strongly advise against buying this. Get it somewhere else. Don't give your money to these jerks. Their shows are ridiculous and they are all about beating kids up. In Virginia Beach they annhilated half of the kids who came out to see them, and in exchange lost quite a few teeth. Some of the local kids nearly beat their roadie to death, and they all deserved what they got.

In all, these guys are huge tools, and their music is nothing spectacular.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stands Out For Once, February 7, 2006
This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
Only one song got me hooked to this album like a fat kid to cake. This isn't an ordinary metalcore band. The band performs breakdowns that aren't just open C notes for a change, and the vocals tend to stand out. The opening to "Listless" is just catchy as hell, and "I Do My Crosswords In Pen" goes through time changes like no other. I recommend this over their new release, which is O.K., but doesn't even match to this underrated classic.

This review is from: Some of Us May Never See the World (Audio CD)
well in general this is a really good cd,i mean sure the screams are a bit screatchy but ull get that with almost any band.the best songs on here are giving up the ghost,i do my crosswords in pen,as you speak and maybe the earth is flat.yeah if u get into the hardcore/metalcore scene u would proaly like these guys, although right now as this band stands they seem to be more underground then most of the bands that are out there today.i reccomend it to anyone.
