Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This 1972 sequel to Green's Horse Tradin' offers more of the same type of illustrated anecdotal stories about raising and selling horses. Green was a veterinarian in Texas, and he came across a number of colorful charactersDsome four-leggedDthroughout his career. Anyone interested in good ol' boy-type Americana will have fun with this.

Review

“Ben Green has won the approval of the sternest literary critics I know—ranch cowboys. In old Doc’s books, they recognize a man who knew horses and cattle to the bone and could tell about them with honest prose and a sly cowboy sense of humor. I’ve read them all, as have most of the cowboys I know.”—John R. Erickson, rancher and author of the Hank the Cowdog series
(John R. Erickson)

This was an excellent book. I greatly enjoyed each and every adventure that Ben K. Green takes you through in the book. In a time where everything is done the easy way it is great to be able to look back and see how things realy used to be done. Through this book you are able to get a very clear picture of the old west. I loved reading about all the different ways the horse traders thought of to skam each other and somehow they both thought they were getting a good deal. I thought this book was great and was not able to put it down once I picked it up. I can't wait to read more by Ben K. Green.

I bought this book for my sister who boards, trains and rides horses for a living.
She had read the first book HORSE TRADIN' and said it was one of her all time favorite books
ever. She did not know that this book had been written so it seemed like the perfect gift for me
to get for her. I am not an animal lover like she is so I have not read it but she just loved
the first one and I know she will squeel with delight when she opens this one! And my sister is
60 years old!!

Dr. Ben Green made his living buying, selling and trading horses and mules in Texas through the war years of gas and tire rationing. You can almost hear his Texas twang in his writing which is informative, entertaining and slap-your-knee funny. Horse lovers in particular will enjoy his stories but even folks who have never been seated on a horse will still enjoy his writing. I gave it 5 stars, partially because I have worked with horses and may be slightly influenced by my days of working with horses. It's a great book that I recommend to everyone.

Excellant reading for anyone how loves horses and has bought and sold these four legged critters. Ben's style of reading brought back great memories of my father-in-law, he was real cowboy in his younger years, he always had a story to tell and Ben had the tallent and forthought to put it in writting so we all enjoy the stories forever. Thanks Ben wherever you are

Ben Green has a great way of telling his life stories. I highly recommend all of his books. I wish he had written Moore. I never get tired of these remarkable stories! They are a must read for anyone who loves the cowboy way of life, horses or mules. You will love Mr. Green's great sense of humor and his fantastic story telling abilities. Don't pass up any of his books.
