3.0 out of 5 stars Love the song but wish they had the radio version! July 16, 2012
Super catchy stuff-hate the 'f' word being in it; certainly can't give my kids the album or the song-which is too bad b/c my daughter REALLY likes the sound of this song (and the album). I really wish artists would make the radio version available for purchase as well. Hate it that one word ruins the whole thing. I'd truly give the song 5 stars (they remind me so much of Queen) if either 'f' had been left out or the radio version was available. Here's to hoping I can find a friend to edit the song for me...

2.0 out of 5 stars Well, just disappointed in the F word usage. December 31, 2012
Verified Purchase
It is my favorite song but I had only listened to the radio version. Having the F word in it just takes away from my enjoyment, it doesnt add to it. I was disappointed to know it has that. Yes, I saw the word explicit. Yes, I realize it is in there but that doesnt change how I feel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great song, why the f-bomb? July 9, 2012
Verified Purchase
I really enjoy the beat and lyrics of this song.....right up until they drop the f-bomb. I don't understand why it is even there. I saw that the album had the 'explicit' rating on it as well as the 'Some Nights (Intro)' which is the first song on the album. I figured that was the reason the album had to be rated 'explicit', because of that first song only. None of the other songs in the list have the 'explicit' warning next to them, so I figured they were fine. My son then came and told me that I had bought an explicit song. I thought he was wrong, but after listening to the entire song found out he was correct. I'm a bit old fashioned I guess and don't want my kids hearing the f word on a song that really doesn't need it. I couldn't even find a clean version to replace it with. I really think Amazon should have ratings on songs like this. If you are on the product page it doesn't warn you anywhere that this song is explicit. Very disappointing.

Some Nights is a fun and great song! I can't stop listening to it and singing along!! This is Fun's next big hit!
Trust me, buy this song!! It has a great beat and the lyrics are really meaningful! The song is about the lead singer dealing with fame!

3.0 out of 5 stars Explicit version! June 13, 2012
Verified Purchase
This is NOT a clean version of this song(which I love). An f-bomb is planted in the song so buyer beware. Too many good bands make pop-y music that is not appropriate for young ears. Other than that, I love Fun. and their music. Why not clean these songs up for better sales and younger audiences?

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a shame... July 14, 2012

...that the band felt they had to put in a single profanity. I don't understand why artists find this necessary; it doesn't add any particular emphasis or even edginess to the song. I really like the music, and the lyrics, while depressing, reflect what many young people feel today. Unfortunately, I wanted to use this with my students (preteen/teen special needs students), but that one word takes the song out of consideration (and a potential wider hearing-some of my students ask me about pop songs I use so they can buy them). I give it three stars, averaging out the good with the disappointing.

The harmonies are tight, the melody is upbeat, and the lyrics still hold some semblance of meaning. What more could you ask for?

4.0 out of 5 stars just the one for me
With most albums it's almost always best to listen to the samples and decide if it would be cheaper to buy the whole album or just your favorites.

Really great album. Some Nights is my favorite, though I love Carry On and We Are Young as much as this song. I can see F.U.N still making great music in 20 years. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Upbeat fun and unique song to jam in the car to
I love this song. Its upbeat (despite the potentially melancholy lyrics) and has a great drum line. I love the anthem-y feel to it like it's a battlecry. Read more
