Product Description

Carrie Jeansonne wasn't looking for trouble or love...but they found her anyway. Can she avoid trouble long enough to give real love a chance?

Her plan for the rest of her life: Education (check), Career (check), Provide for her three teenagers (check), Divorce controlling, horn-dog of a husband (somewhat nasty, but progressing), and find some happiness (not so easy it turns out). The thirty-six year old mother wants to concentrate on her new drafting career in Road Design with no added complications – is that too much to ask?

Enter Sam Langley: Knocking on forty, single, and hating it. Formerly the office clown, his morose mood has prompted his co-workers to dub him 'Oscar the Grouch' in the year since his wife’s departure and his divorce. After clashing with his new, outspoken co-worker, the surveyor can’t help but be drawn to this brassy, sassy lady with her take no prisoner attitude.

Plagued by her ex-husband’s can’t- take-no-for-an-answer intrusions and sleep depriving phone calls, Carrie is reluctant to allow another man into her life. By the time Sam shows promises of becoming more than a friend, the mysterious phone calls lead to something dark and disturbing. As Carrie realizes she could be dealing with more than her disgruntled ex, she struggles to overcome the obstacles threatening her happiness as well as her life.

This is the first volume of my southern Louisiana based La Fleur de Love series. I’m extremely proud of my Cajun heritage and try to inject the flavor and flair of southern Louisiana in the form of food, customs, dialect, or music. So, come on in and 'pass a good time' with my people...all intelligent, witty, and hard working professionals struggling with whatever love and life throws at them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real, involved, engrossing...this author is one to watch!, August 28, 2011
This review is from: Some Day Somebody (La Fleur de Love) (Kindle Edition)
Carrie J. has lived a rough life, compliments of her swaggering, self absorbed husband. But enough is enough, and she's finally got a way out. Now, with a new degree-her way to support her three kids-and a surplus of guts that have been building up over the past few years of her dissolving marriage, Carrie is ready to change her future...for the better.

Sam has also fallen into the 'just separated' category too. Although his foray into divorce was somewhat of a shock. Now living alone with his son, Nick, he is finally beginning to grow accustomed to the long, lonely nights. He never dreamed that he would find someone that would change his outlook on life, or that he would get the chance to love again.

But their paths collide at Carrie's new job. When sparks fly, Carrie becomes guarded, but just when they realize their new friendship might lead to something more...mysterious happenings threaten their newfound love.

Lori writes with spectacular insight into a woman's mind. She knows the inroads of family, friends, and co-workers. That attitude and flair of characterization and dialogue capture the reader's interest. But lets not forget about the romance, which also holds its own. This is a second chance at love story and I'm sure that once you finish it, you won't be able to stop yourself from picking up the next story in the series......

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED. IT., January 27, 2012

Sam and Carrie's story is the typical divorced man and woman trying to figure out their new life. Their emotions and thoughts painted a perfect picture of what it's like to venture out on your own again after being married for a good portion of your life. I love Sam's patience with Carrie as she sorts out her feelings for him. He's a great hero I hope exists in real life! His willingness to protect her no matter what when things get scary in her life, made me love him more. At times, I wanted to shake Carrie and say, "Just go for it!" But then as a new divorcee, I totally get her trepidation at falling in love and letting another man into her life.

Well-written, the book flowed so well, I didn't want to put it down until I got to the end. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Leger!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great romance with a touch of suspense, October 30, 2011
This review is from: Some Day Somebody (La Fleur de Love) (Kindle Edition)
Lori Leger has a way of creating real life characters with real life problems that are so easy to connect with, I found myself thinking about them and worrying for them, even when I wasn't reading the book. Carrie is a strong, admirable heroine and a wonderful mother. You can really feel her angst in having to choose between what she wants and what she feels she should do. I LOVE Sam. His character could have been unlikable in the beginning, but even though he was a bit surly, that was tempered with the sympathy you felt for his loneliness. The suspense wasn't a huge part of the story, but was handled excellently. Very tense and compelling. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

More About the Author

Lori Leger (1958) was born sixth of eight children in the tiny town of Gueydan, Louisiana where her mother, a retired teacher's aide, still resides. She knew she had a knack for writing her senior year of high school when she breezed through an Advanced Composition class. However, she didn't write her first book until she was forty-nine. By then, she was well into a fourteen year career as a road design drafter with the state, and thirteen years into her second marriage. She and her husband have five wonderful children between the two of them...all out on their own now. Though they love having the house to themselves, they adore getting frequent visits from their children and ten grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Lori writes Contemporary Romances with a Cajun Flair. She has four books published in her La Fleur de Love series, stories based in her beloved home of Louisiana. Extremely proud of her Cajun heritage, she strives to inject it into her stories by way of dialect, customs, food, and characters that are intelligent, witty, and lovable. She hopes to have at least three more books in the series published by the end of 2012.

Book 2, Last First Kiss, became an Amazon Ranked Best Seller in February of 2012.
