Belgium rocks.,

Lasgo - incase you haven't heard of them, they are a three piece group from Belgium featuring Peter Lutz (who has done numerous dance remixes, Dave McCullen, and 19-year-old Evi Goffen. This album seriously rocks. Evi has such an amazing voice, especially for being so young, and Peter and Dave tie it all together with some really fantastic dance songs that get your booty shakin'! If you like other Eurodance groups such as Ace of Base (The Sign era), Milk Inc., DJ Encore f/Engelina, and Sylver among others- you will love this album. Some of the best tracks are "Follow You", "Searching", "Pray", "Something" and "Feelings". Another great track is "Cry" which is sung by David (he also sings "I Dont Belong 2 U" on the album). Overall a great CD, perfect to just put on and groove to. I can't wait to hear more stuff from Lasgo!

Many times Europop gets dismissed by mass audiences in the U.S. (with some exceptions in clubs and the like), and it is quite understandable in some cases, HOWEVER Lasgo's "Some Things" should not be ignored.Although somewhat similar to other artists in the genre (Chicane, DJ Encore, DJ Sammy) there is an intoxicating giddiness that this whole CD seems to create. I also like that the lead singer sounds a lot like Kim Wilde. I know that Kim Wilde is no Aretha Franklin in the pipes department, but there is something unique about Lasgo that bridges the new wave and europop genres with great success. The song "Cry" takes a different route and has a Savage Garden-like feel that does not deter, but actually adds to the quality of this release Another plus is that the songs are relatively short and don't meander forever like some of Lasgo's counterparts. This is fun music at it's most basic. Take this CD to the beach, the gym, or just play it when you want to feel carefree.

Belgians Create Another EuroTrance/Pop Masterpiece.,

"Something" is a TERRIFIC song from a Belgian trio called Lasgo. It is a Very powerful Dance/Trance song with Amazingly Beautiful Female Vocals. Music and melodies of ALL Lasgo songs are so POWERFUL, that they make me want to grow wings and fly. Simply Incredible Stuff. This album is mainly DANCE/TRANCE/TECHNO music with beautiful melodies and Angelic female Vocals. There is a lot of energy and catchy melody in this album. There are no bad songs, and you can listen to the whole CD and FULLY enjoy every single track. Female Vocals and Great Melodies give each of their songs a POP/RADIO FRIENDLY feel. There is a SLOW POP BALLAD (Cry). This is a true Pop Ballad TO DIE FOR. STUNNING MELODY with MALE VOCALS. "Searching" is another slower, very beautiful song. If you like music by MILK INC, DJ ENCORE,RIMINI PROJECT, SYLVER, FRAGMA, or IAN VAN DAHL then this album is a MUST HAVE for you. I also think that if you enjoy listening to music with very Beautiful melodies and vocals (like CELINE DION or something similar), then you definitely should check out Lasgo's Album. Fans of ROXETTE's music should like this album too. Also fans of Old School Eurodance (LA BOUCHE, REAL MCCOY, MASTERBOY) should also enjoy Lasgo's music. Support this Very Talented Trio from Belgium and buy LASGO'S FULL LENGTH ALBUM called "SOME THINGS". Tell your friends about them too. In my oppinion this is the best album to come out in 2002. I promise, you will LOVE LASGO's Beautiful Sound. Enjoy.

Amazing first album, by an amazing Belgian trance group!,

OK so another Belgium trance act hits the scene? In one sense yes but somehow the first single "Something" sounded a little different with vocals sitting on top of seemingly perfect production sounds. With Lasgo's second single "Alone" sounding even better the album looked promising. "Some Things" is a melancholy album with "Intro" (leading into "Something") setting the mood beautifully as an instrumental taster of what's to come. You could argue that there are a couple of "fillers" on here but at 15 tracks long that can't be bad! A real surprise is "Cry", again a slower very melancholy track this time with vocals from David Vervoot (producer, keyboards and vocals) and real pianos - I think this shows a diversity lacking in other bands of the same genre. Interesting to note that the much later US release of this album sees not only redesigned (and much more sophisticated) packaging but more tracks most notably the best track (for me) on the album "You". For me this is the most catchy tune. Very high energy production sounds, superb vocals from Evy Goffin, will make you dance and cry all at the same time - this has been spinning in my mp3 player for days now! This album deserves to do well not only for Lasgo but for all fans of dance/trance/euro music.~Tracklisting:

everyone plays to death a new cd that they really love and soon might get sick of it. Well.. i've had this cd for about a year( i bought the belgian version first) and i have to tell you, i have played it to death. i listen to it every day.i have one for my office and one for the car.but i love it. Dance music changes its flavor and style over the years, and trance seems to be the thing right now. but this is the most solid cd i've ever bought by a dance band. you hear something new with every listen. the lyrics are top notch, so is the music and complete production."something" deserves all the success it is getting. i just hope it doesnt take away from the rest of the album, as far as radio goes. the stand out tracks are: the whole cd. "blue"-gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it.What a build up! vocally and musically (...for me and you...). "alone" is the "i will survive" of vocal trance.and "I Wonder" should be the next single. The ballad, "Searching" is just gorgeous. you have to hear it to beleive its coming from a dance act. Some of my guy friends who hate dance music have actually bought this cd after hearing it from me. they say its "different" and they love it. i can go on forever but i wont. just buy it. its worth every penny. this is gonna be the sleeper hit of the year in america. Dance acts traditionally don't put out such solid full length cd's. this is a masterpiece.

"Something" is missing--namely lyrics,
This review is from: Some Things (Audio CD)
I had high hopes for this CD since "Something" is such a perfect dance/pop song and I have to admit, "Some Things" is often a sonic treat and the vocals are appealing. Unfortunately, things go sour in the lyric department--they're repetitive, which the same subjects covered ad infititum, and often grade-school abysmal. "Something" is the striking exception to that, but the CD never reaches that level again.

Best dance CD i own,

up until i bought this cd, there has never been a time when i bought a cd and pressed the "repeat" button on EVERY track. when i bought lasgo's album "somethings", this all changed. literally every song on this cd is a masterpiece. there's always one or 2 "filler" tracks on a cd, but i sincerely cannot say this about "somethings". every song is radio worthy. if you thought the single "something" was hot, then youve GOT to hear the rest of this cd!! there are no words to describe it. in my opinion, "i dont belong to u" is the best song on the whole cd and blows "something" away. i dont understand why this wasnt the first song released, but im still waiting. if you like house-y dance stuff and if you enjoyed "something", then what are you waiting for? go get this cd!! you wont be disappointed!!

Shivers With Trance,

Lasgo is a group from belgium that is part of the trance genre, the main singer a female vocalist dominates this album completely and she will amaze you with the great songs she performs. Starting things off with the mysterious "Something" then the bittersweet "Blue" it's about broken heart, and "Alone" which have an overall theme of broken hearts and sadness, the songs however are touching and sound great as you can almost see the passion with which the singer expressed in the songs. The only weakness with this album is that many of the songs lack good beats and layers of synths; you'll just start thinking that they could've added more to compliment the songs. Overall though this is an excellent cd and you should have it in your collection if you like trance songs.

A Kid's Review

I'm a big Lasgo fan but their records barely makes it to my country so I was more then happy to find their album. Let me tell you that all songs are very good. Not one song is bad so buy this if you want trance music with a twist. The only thing is that her voice is not that good. When she tries to hit those high notes she can't hit them. |
