The real problem is the ending.

This is an extremely difficult task for any filmmaker, but as opposed to others with similar types of settings, this took place in real-time, even more difficult.

Wonderfully acted with witty dialogue and sharp turns of emotion this movie is definitely one to watch...and Alice Eve wears a blue contact.

Surreal and unexpected. Some Velvet Morning turned from one movie into another in that matter of a minute. Wonderfully acted with witty dialogue and sharp turns of emotion this movie is definitely one to watch...and Alice Eve wears a blue contact.

I found this movie on Amazon, and it sounded pretty interesting, and when I saw a short running time, it made me curious.

In my experience, independent movies are either far too long, or the perfect length. Likewise, they vary from pitiful, instantly forgettable, or phenomenal, like most films I guess, however independent movies are even more difficult to analyze as there is little in between. At less than an hour and a half, I knew I wouldn't have that problem. What I watched surprised me even more and was extremely impressive.

Only two characters throughout the entire film, in one location. This is an extremely difficult task for any filmmaker, but as opposed to others with similar types of settings, this took place in real-time, even more difficult.

Alice Eve delivers another brilliant performance, who I hope will get some more starring mainstream roles soon. I loved her in She's Out of My League, and she has done a string of indies, all of which she was impressive. This film will certainly help her career.

Stanley Tucci was, for lack of a better word, Stanley Tucci. Always spot on, and will always add extra depth to whatever character he is playing.

What I loved about this film was the on-going back-and-forth between the two. There is a deep history between the characters, with anger growing between both, and a history of problems. What made this so interesting, is that it is never actually stated what the issues are, but the viewer completely understands the complexities of both characters.

I was riveted to see what was going to happen with the facts given, and those not given explicitly. The ending is perfectly executed. I thought I guessed the surprise ending, and I was right...

I recently watched both Cold Comes the Night with Alice Eve and since I'm both a fan of hers and Neil Labute's
I watched this one, too. Cold Comes the Night is the better movie. But both movies prove Alice Eve can do a lot more
than terrific romantic comedies like She's Out of My League. Beats me why Hollywood isn't giving Eve more leading roles.
As far as this movie goes, it's two characters in a house, that's it, and it's not Sleuth, that's for sure.
Somebody said there was a twist, and since eventually I got tired of the dialogue, I fast forwarded to the last 9 minutes, and thought, this isn't a twist, but then it finally happened. Didn't think the twist was worth 7 bucks.
I haven't seen everything LaBute has done, but I think In the Company of Men, Your Friends and Neighbors, and The Shape of Things are his three best movies.
Hopefully Dirty Weekend, his provocatively titled next movie with Alice Eve, more actually happens in the movie. That movie seems to have four main characters.

When a movie makes you re-think what you have just seen and that re-thinking goes deeper and deeper, you know you have watched an important film.

Get ready for a ride. Neil LaBute always delivers squirmy tension and twists you just won't see coming. Buckle up!

Clever denouement. Good acting. Some of the dialog left me cold and wondering. The female lead is a knockout. Tucci's neurosis was palpable.

Like other movies from Neil LeBute, this one showcases very good dialogue and a horrifying (in a good way) male lead. This time the female lead gets some wonderful actions and dialogue for herself and in that back and forth the movie is worth a watch (a rental).

The problem is the beginning and the ending. The beginning starts off very slowly and awkwardly. Given what you learn at the end the beginning should not have started precisely that way in my humble opinion. The real problem is the ending. Because of what you are learning very early on about these characters, you can *mostly* see what will probably happen. The twist really discounts the experience in this film and in the story. I don't want to give too much away as many may have a different, better experience. I hope you enjoy, but be forewarned.

Stanley Tucci is actually handsome (and sexy!) in this role. My god this man is versatile! From serial killer to fashion plate to sexy man -- WOW!! I loved him before for his versatility and solid acting chops -- and he just keeps getting better. If you enjoy superb acting, a spicy premise, and a nice twist, this film will not disappoint! Worth the price of the rental, for sure.
