5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are goin' places!
"Somebody Told Me" is the kind of single that only comes along every few years. In my opinion, they've got Franz Ferdinand beat, in part because they aim higher. These are big songs with sweeping choruses and enough musical sparkle to take them to the bigtime in a hurry. The other tracks don't quite live up to STM, but, that's OK. "Mr. Brightside" (the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Somebody Told Me You Like This...
This version of the single "Somebody Told Me" by The Killers is okay, not great. The title track is the same as the album mix, and definitely NOT the techno remix version heard on the radio so much these days. Given that, this single could be a great intro to the band if you're unfamiliar with them. The B-sides, "...Valentine" and "Under The Gun" are both good...

"Mr. Brightside" (the UK single) is also a winner. Can't wait for "Hot Fuss" (the debut album!)

The killers cd is so awesome! I saw them in concert and it was just awesome. Somebody told me is somewhat like a 80s Techno punk sound... Its really great you should check them out!

Somebody Told Me sounded good the first time I heard it. By the second time through my headset I was oddly addicted to it. Great hook! I'm not sure I'm going to make it until the album release this summer. I didn't even mind paying for shipping from the UK. Completely worth it. I've got all my friends hooked on it now.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best The Killers have to offer.., January 5, 2005
On this single is 'Somebody Told Me', wich I'm not going to review because I already did on the actual album. No the real shining lights are the 2 B-sides. First 'Under The Gun, wich is my favourite Killers-song ever, is really catchy, up-tempo and fun. No impressive lyrics but that's ok. Then 'A Ballad Of Micheal Vallentine' wich is again a great song. These 2 songs are better then most of the stuff on the real album (Yup, better then Somebody Told Me). It's a shame if you haven't heard The Killer's true masterpiece. Buy or download it if you must, it's neccesairy..

4.0 out of 5 stars the B-sides for diehard fans, June 23, 2005

YES it is worth picking up. The Ballad of Michael Valentine is a downtempo rocker with clunky beats, but Under the Gun is more of the dance oriented alternative rock like their hit singles.

4.0 out of 5 stars I hear potential with this band . . ., May 12, 2005

I think they could really turn into something as they continue to develop their own sound. When they try to make a "hit," they end up sounding too much like all the other semi-whiny wanna-be New Wavers out there that are fashionable at the moment. But when they explore their obvious musical talent and take chances like they do on this EP's "The Ballad of Michael Valentine," they really shine. They've already gotten a lot of attention with HOT FUSS, and, if they play their cards right, I think they could be even better.

Given that, this single could be a great intro to the band if you're unfamiliar with them. The B-sides, "...Valentine" and "Under The Gun" are both good representations of The Killers sound, but nothing special. If you're a Killers junkie and have to have all their tracks or are new to the band and want to check them out, buy it. Otherwise, I'd just stick to the album.

The third song on their EP, "Under the Gun", is just as great as "Somebody Told Me" and also has an addictive hook. These guys rock, plain and simple.

Huh? The Killers STM sounds similar to Blurs Boys & Girls but much harder, faster, and just plain better. I loved this song the first time I'd heard it, it's catchy, it rocks, and after a few drinks you can dance to it as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sorry, June 25, 2004

I'm sorry, but I can't stand this song. And what the hell is techno/disco/punk? I think we're getting a little too out of hand with classifying music. I just don't see what's so special about this song, the vocals are annoying, I'm not digging the disco-feel to it. Personally, I think it's trash.
