THE FIRST SENTENCE GRABBED ME!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Somebody Else's Child (Paperback)
Mrs. Grimes has made these characters so real that the only aspect missing is seeing them in the flesh. Theresa's mother kept tears (of laughter) in my eyes. This book is so action packed, the dialogue so real-life that this reader felt at one with the characters, scenes, and action. The book reads quickly and dares you to put it down! ...and that last sentence (Please don't peek!) will hook you as a Theresa Galloway fan!

A Crazy Woman Is Leslie,

This review is from: Somebody Else's Child (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book; I did not want to put it down. I thought the main character had lost her mind the way that she ran around town looking for clues, for her mother, but did not run around town for her family. I stayed on the edge of my seat. This is a must read. I want to read more of this author's books. The plot kept moving right along, it did not slow down.

Impressed!,

I was impressed by this first novel by Mrs. Grimes. The book did keep me interested and wondering what would happen next. Theresa kept bugging me by neglecting her immediate family, but I still thought it was a good read. I am glad I found a good mystery author. Keep up the good work.

This book is wonderful I could hardly put it down. Somehow this smart lady detective is able to solve crimes and run a family. She's just what I want to be when I grow-up. (I'm 31) She had me peeking around dark corners right behind her. And her mother sounds just like my mother.

You might hide, but this book will bring you right back home,

Teresa is an everyday women that lives by the motto, "Once everyone else gets settled, then I can get my life on track." Well, not exactly Teresa's mother seems to involve her in the madness of solving a mystery which puts our everyday 'girl' in some of the most dangerous and exciting predicaments we love to hear about but wouldn't want to be in. The only downside to the book (but a plus for me) is if you are not intimately familiar with the Sacramento, California area, you may not appreciate the great detail she paints for the reader

I REALLY ENJOYED THE CHARACTERS THAT MS.GRIMES CREATED. THEY WERE VERY LIKABLE PEOPLE. AND A LOT OF HER MOTHERS OLD SAYINGS REMINDED ME OF THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE. VERY TALENTED MYSTERY WRITER. JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD THE MYSTERY FIGURED OUT SHE BAFFLED ME AGAIN.

I thought it was a realistic view of a black community,

I loved the plot of the doctor and his wife who would have thought that rich old lady could do those killings all to protect a man who has been dead for years.I really liked the realtionship between Teresa and her mom. I think a lot of black women have that type of bond with their moms.
