Darius is not on top, not like he thought!!!!!,

This review is from: Somebody's Gotta Be On Top (Hardcover)
Somebody's Gotta Be On Top is the FORTH book in the series. To fully enjoy this book read
1. Soul Mates Dissipate 2. Never Again Once More 3. He's Just a Friend Darius is back and he has his own business after being fired from Black Diamonds. His business is Somebody's Gotta Be On Top, and he wants to be on top no matter who he hurts. Darius wants to be awarded the contract to for the screenplay for Soulmates Dissipate that Jade's friend Candice has written about her life. Jada is none to pleased about her business being put out there and wants to stop this movie from being made. When Darius is not given the contract he schemes a way to partner with Ciara who was given the contract. What he really wants to do is take over the contract and her company. Darius is still holding serious resentment for all the lies his mother told, and still wants his revenge on her as well. Darius is so angry with his mother it affects how he relates to women. He is in love with Ashlee, marries Ciara, and having physical relations with Kimberly and one night stand with someone named Desire. Darius brother Kevin wants to live the life that Darius has and manages to get a job working at Daruis' company. Darius has no idea that Kevin is embezzling money from him. I enjoyed this book a lot, even though Darius got on my nerves. He is so spoiled, selfish, and he claimed he loved Ashlee, he does not know how to love!!! He was always trying to scam someone, trying to be on top and it bit him in the butt. Karma Darius, KARMA!!!! Kevin was no better. Jealous of his brother, and doing what he did made him no better than Darius. I'm from New York, I don't know anyone who says Man like Mein. That irritated me. Kevin had such resentment for his brother, especially when Darryl starts to bond with Darius. I'm looking forward to the next book because the way this book ended has me anxious to find out what happened to Darius' father. They were finally getting along, I really wanted to see them heal their relationship further. I really felt sorry for Ashlee, she got caught up, but she really should have stayed strong, and never allowed Darius to get his hooks in her. She knew he was no good!!! Did she really think that he would do right by her? Darius is so busy hating his mother that he can't truly appreciate women. He feels women should not be in business, they are only meant to have children and take care of the home. He marries Ciara only to take over her business, little does he know Ciara is on to him. There is a certain line in the book that really cracked me up. "Darius is trying to fill Ciara's life with Love. That is HILARIOUS. How can he fill someone's life with love when he does not truly know how to love, especially himself. Darius does not deserve a woman like Ashlee, he would never appreciate her. The fact that he possibly has three women pregnant? He obviously did not learn his lesson from "He's Gotta Be A Friend" he should have to deal with another STD scare in the next book. It's a miracle Kimberly did not come up pregnant too!!! I applauded when Wellington tried to give Darius a dose of tough love. Jada really baby's Darius too much, and she needs to let him fall on his face!!! There were so many times I wish I could reach into the pages and slap Darius. He was such a hypocrite. It's okay for him to cheat, but the idea of Ciara cheating on him really set his blood boiling. Darius is so pathetic, I could not feel sorry for him. Maybe he will change in the next book. I certainly hope so. This book is full of surprises, and Jada has yet another secret that gets revealed. Jada needs to stop with all the secrets!!! You would think she would learn. I'm looking forward to the next book!!! There are so many loose ends that I'm looking forward for Morrison to tie up.

I will say this. Mrs. Morrison has a flare for erotic writing. She's damn good at that. Her storylines however are not that great. I couldn't finish this book. It was slow and tormenting. And I must add VERY CONFUSING AT TIMES. It's not fair that a reader has to read ALL of her books just to know what the hell is going on with ONE. That makes no sense to me. Mrs. Morrison you can definitely write, but it's time to break your series of events up. Last, I will also say the Somebody's gotta be on top was a lot better than He's just a freind.

Somebody has to be, but should he be the one?,
This review is from: Somebody's Gotta Be On Top (Hardcover)
"Somebody's Gotta Be On Top" in the latet novel by Mary B. Morrison, the fourth in a series of seven. In "Soul Mates Dissipate", the inaugural book in this series, Ms. Morrison introduced readers to lovers Jada Diamond Tanner and Wellington Jones. Fast forward two decades and we find their son Darius Jones as a 22 year old CEO of his own production company. Heir to millions, Darius is spoiled, chauvinistic, cocky, irreverent, suave, ruthless and vindictive, among other things. One of those other things is a pathological determination to rob his mother of her life's dream, as he feels she did to him. Darius thinks he's invincible, but his immaturity, arrogance and insatiable appetite combine to shape his kryptonite.
Darius Jones is a master in the sexual act. Describing his encounters as lovemaking would be sugarcoating. Even the pursuit of his step-sister Ashlee, supposedly for the sake of love, denigrates into a competition with his half-brother for her affection and loyalty. Unfortunately, Darius' sexual exploitations began to read more like a technical manual than the provocative, cliff hanging romance to which we've become accustomed from the author. Nevertheless, Ms. Morrison continued her trademark ending; leaving the reader cursing and begging for more of the same.

Waaaaaaay Better Than Zane!!!!,

Somebody's Got To Be On Top was way better than Zane's recent novels. This book has a good story line with erotic flavor spiced in. Not just the grit and the grime of sex but sensual and erotic at the same time.
The main character Darius Jones was a trip. You talking about a straight dog and conceited.....whew!!!! He wanted to and did sleep with everything moving, including his sister now that was straight up doggish. He was so busy sleeping with all the females he came across that his brother was able to embezzle money from his business. I can't wait to read another installment of this family saga. I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't more of Fancy Taylor in this story but as I got to the end I realized that this story was telling how Fancy and Darius met each other and the next story will be about them, again I can't wait. Fancy and Darius' attitudes coming together is what I consider a must read!!!! Ms. Morrison definitely did you thang on this one. After reading this novel she has gained truckloads of more respect from me as a writer. Later!!!!!

Somebody's gotta be on the top and on the bottom!,
By Dawn Chambray (Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews

If you read the entire series from beginning (Soul mates dissipate; Never again one more; He's just a friend) and now "Somebody's gotta be on top" then you know the story about Darius, Jada, Wellington and the host of others caught up in the triangle. He's just a frined and Somebody's gotta be on top" take place at the same time. Somebody's gotta be on top is narrated by Darius and He's just a friend is narrated by new comer Fancy. It will be fun to see how these to character's pan out over the next three books to end the series. I think that the best books in the series are "Soul mates dissipate and this one because they are both page turners and there's always sonmething happening. It makes you think before you turn to the next page and ask youself what will happen next. Darius is a straight up womanizer and control freak in this book. He's never really truly loved and cared for a woman and I hope that Fancy Taylor will change that. The ending keeps you on edge because you want to know what'll happen in the next installment. Was she talking about Daryl Jr. or Sr. The wait for the next book in the series "Nothing has every felt like this" will be long but I think it will be worth the wait. The ending was definitely a mystery for several reasons. In addition to what was stated above I'm also curious to know exactly how many children Darius has fathered.

Her Best One Yet!,
This review is from: Somebody's Gotta Be On Top (Hardcover)
I feel so honored in meeting Mary B. at the 26th Annual Black Cultural Festival in Pomona, where I told her Somebody's Gotta Be on Top was one of her best books!
(I won't go into the story; enough people have done that.) Somebody's Gotta Be on Top is filled with erotic scenes that are sexy ~ not sleezy, and is written with a style of ease that is sure to keep you turning pages. It's amazing how authors can put so much into a character, that readers are forced to either love 'em or hate 'em. As much as I hate to admit it, I loved "Darius"!! I take my hat off to you, Ms. Morrison! You're definitely ON TOP with this one. Paula S. Edwards, Author of The Last Bad Decision

I've read most of Ms. Morrison's novels, but I don't remember them to be that much of a standout. I do enjoy the read. The novel has a lot of action, imagery, plot, you name it, but it gets lost in all the extensive details that she writes about EVERYTHING in the book. It was too wordy in some places, with not enough story. The story is twisted, action packed, but filled with too much detail.

I had been waiting for the next in the series from Morrison since He's just a friend. Darius just can't seem to keep his desires under control and they jump up and hit him hard. This is the second time around. Morrison is fantastic as a writer and gets her point across very well. I can't wait for the next in the series.
