One of Mariah's best songs!!!!, February 23, 2005
This review is from: Someday (Audio CD)
I remember when I first heard this song in 1991. I came home from school and turned on MTV or VH1 and not knowing Mariah had an album before Emotions, I was surprised to see this video and very excited because the song was cool. Then at the very end of the song I heard that part where she hits that really high note and it totally blew me away! I totally love that high note and it sounded so awesome at the very end of the song. I heard her do it on the Emotions CD and loved it and was so happy that she did it in Someday also.
After seeing that video for the first time, I had to get the album. A while later, sometime in 1991, I got the tape and I totally loved the whole tape but the song Someday was a totally different version than the music video version and I was very disappointed because my favorite part of Someday is when she hits that high note and I totally loved the music itself and on the album, it's cut off and the music was changed, the song fades as she hits that note. For the longest time, I wanted to get the single. Finally, a few years ago I went to a pawn shop and found this CD single with the Jackswing versions which is so much better than the album version and it also has Alone In Love but I just totally love the Jackswing versions of Someday because of that high note and the unique music! Someday is one of my favorite songs from her. Mariah has such a beautiful voice and she is the most unique singer ever because of that high note! Keep it up Mariah!!!
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Someday (New 7" Jackswing) (4:40)-My all time favorite version of Someday that has the MTV and VH1 music video!
2. Someday (New 7" Straight) (4:16)-A version which sounds almost exactly like the album version but I hear horns in it, I don't hear that electric guitar which was in the album version and I do hear that really high note because the song is a little extended from the album version but I still love The Jackswing versions best because of the music itself!
3. Someday (New 12" Jackswing) (6:55)-The extended version of my favorite version of Someday, which happens to be my 2nd favorite version of Someday and it also had a music video that wasn't shown on VH1 or MTV to my knowlege but it can be seen on the 1990 VHS tape, The First Vision from Mariah Carey which I also highly recommend!!
4. Someday (Pianoapercapella-New) (4:17)-Mariah's vocals echo in this, there is a cool piano at first and then you hear a keyboard, it's a really cool version. There are parts where you just hear Mariah's voice.
5. Alone In Love (4:11)-I really love this slow ballad from Mariah's debut album from 1990. It's kind of sad but Mariah sings with so much emotion and soul, it's amazing!!!

What A Voice!!, December 3, 2005
This review is from: Someday (Audio CD)
Back in 1990 alot of the acts were all were just looks and no talent. What a breathe of fresh air when Mariah burst onto the scene. This song showed the variety of musical elements that Mariah would eventually incorporate into her music. She's not just a ballad singer.
