5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Song Off The New CD Worth Listening To...
After hearing the sickeningly explicit "All For You," I lost all respect for Janet, but this was the one shining song from the entire CD. "All right maybe gonna find him today, gotta get someone to call my lover," it's the innocent 80's style pop that launched her career, with the same playful, but not explicit content of her earlier work. Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay single for its value
I gave this single 3 stars. I think that Janet and Virgin Records could have done better on the "CD's" part. They only put 2 songs which sound almost the same. Like on the imports, they should have included the club mixes or atleast make a maxi-single of this song which instead would have 5 or 6 songs instead of only 2. The song however is good. Like i said...

*Tracklisting

1) Single Edit - Basically the album version but the music break in the middle is cut off short (3 1/2 stars)

2) So So Def Remix - All that happens is the beat is sped up, more drums and JD raps a little (4 stars)

Only for die hard fans who buy for her remixes

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Single, August 16, 2001

If you bought this and the single for the title track to Jackson's recent ALL FOR YOU album, then you now have what amounts to really the only two essential listening pleasures on an otherwise half-baked,undercooked project. Like the previous single, this one utitlizes a sample, this time of 'Ventura Highway', and the results are fabulous. It's definately different than anything Jackson's done before--it has a slinky little bass track feel to it, but is still accessible. Deserves to be a huge hit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Song, March 15, 2002

Going back to the song Ventura Highway, Janet's release off her All For You Album is simply wonderful. It's a happy, peppy, wonderful song that almost makes you smile just to hear it. This single import has a remix or two not included on the American release. If you like the song, then get the single, but you might as well get the All For You cd if you just want the original version (plus you get 19 other tracks).

4.0 out of 5 stars Someone To Call My Lover - It Will Get You Hooked !, September 30, 2001

This song got me hooked on Janet. When I first heard this song on her All For You album, I liked it, but not as much as now. By the third or fourth time, I fell in love with it. Janet took a sample from America's Ventura Highway, to make this song romantic, upbeat, catchy and chart topping. After listening to her recent work, I explored her past hits and purchased all her albums. Now I'm a Janet fan, and I owe most of it to this song.

The reason I gave this CD only 4 stars, is because I wanted more. Releasing only a 2-track single in the US is a waste. This song is great to mix, remix, extend or whatever. The So So Def Remix is excellent, but there could still be more. I'll have to buy the import singles to get remixes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janet should never ever be lonely....., August 31, 2001
This review is from: Someone to Call My Lover (Audio CD)
Well at least ,not after creating this little of a single anyway .I mean ,it's a fresh sound and it's not one of those annoying songs that stick in your head for no apparent reason .I also love the fact that it's been remixed by Hex Hector AND So So Def .Firstly ,because i really love the stuff that Hex Hector has done for Jennifer Lopez and Madonna ,and this is a totally different but cool sound for him .Also I love So So Def (alias Jermaine Dupri) because he did some cool remixes for Destiny's Child and he also helped produce Chante Moore's 'Straight Up' which was a great song .I think that Janet has hit a real goldmine with these two ,but she shouldn't overdo it and use them too much .Keep it coming for the next few months Janet!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been so much more..., August 25, 2001

First, let me say that I really like the song "Someone To Call My Lover." But... only two tracks? The JD So So Def remix is okay, but there are tracks on the import single that are so much better, and should have been put on the American single. For instance, the club mix is really good, and the Velvet mix is cool. I've also heard an instrumental version and an acapella version (from janetworld.com) that would be good additions to this single. Oh well... the single edit IS better than the original (I'm glad they cut out that little digital break - it gets annoying) and the JD mix, as I said before, is okay. But I was expecting more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Song by J.J., August 23, 2001

This review is from: Someone to Call My Lover (Audio CD)
I always liked Janet Jackson especially because of your appealing vocals. This track is the best track on her new album by far. I think the So So Def remix gives it a nice touch but personally the original sounds much better and pure. One thing is for sure is that she's making better music than any of her brothers nowadays and that includes Michael. At least she's still making music and her fan base is growing but you can't say the same for her siblings. She's with it and they're not. Check the single out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, So So Def Remix shakes the house!, August 19, 2001
This review is from: Someone to Call My Lover (Audio CD)
What is up with these reviews not even about the single? People are leaving rooms about the album, which is great, in this single's reviews! But oh well, this is the commercial single of Janet's new hit single, "Someone To Call My Lover". I already have the clean version of her new awesome album "All For You", but I just got this because my friend got it. I heard the So So Def Remix on the phone with him talking about music. I love this remix! It is one of the best So So Def remixes to date! Make sure you pick this up! Or get the maxi, either way, you'll have this jumpin', slammin' remix of Janet's awesome song! It is my favorite song of "All For You". I'm glad it was released as a single! You go Janet! Pick this up, you will NOT regret it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the least impressed.., August 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Someone to Call My Lover (Audio CD)
You have got to be kidding me.....from the lady that brought us "Black Cat", "Rhythm Nation", "IF", and the list goes on and on, THIS IS HER NEW SINGLE? Man, this song is lame. I can't really say she could have picked any better songs to release though cause I'm not the least bit impressed with her attempt of a new album. "All for You", the song, was alright, but in general, I'd rate the CD at about 2 stars. She used to make music, but for some reason I feel that this cd was only a cheap rip off of some sex/cuss recording. Why do you feel the need to moan in "Would You Mind"......though thats one of the better songs on the CD, I still don't rate it up there with her past hits.
