"...readers who enjoy a good old-fashioned fairy tale will find this unusual contemporary spin on true, lasting love deeply satisfying..." Kathryn Livingston, Indie Reader and USA Today

"I'm going to be honest - I didn't expect to like this at all... But for some completely inexplicable reason I found myself at the end of the book with a giant smile on my face saying aloud (to myself since I'm cool like that) 'wow, I REALLY liked that.'" 9/10 rating by I Love YA Fiction

"An engaging story exploring true love, fairytales and the essence of being yourself." Paranormal Fantasy Addict

"Someone Else's Fairytale was simply amazing, well written, charming, funny, sad, intense, painful, heartfelt, beautiful, and great. Ms. Tippetts obviously knows what she's doing and has no problem... making the characters feel real[;] she can twist plots and leave you wanting more. Don't take my word for it. I dare you to read this book and not love it." 5/5 rating by The Bo0kJunki3

"Imaginative and well crafted, Someone Else's Fairytale is one of the best stories I've read. You'll fall in love with the characters and have your own delightful 'fairytale good feeling' when you finish it. Novel Rocket and I give it a high recommendation." Ane Mulligan, Senior Editor, Novel Rocket

"The characters were great, the storyline was perfect, I really loved the entire thing ...Someone Else's Fairytale totally made it into my Top 5 Books read in 2011." Reviewing What I'm Reading

4.0 out of 5 stars Girl meet superstar, they fall in love! February 9, 2012
Format:Paperback
I'll start by saying that this is the first chicklit/romance book I have ever read and I had no idea what to expect from this genre. I have nothing to compare this book to, so this is an absolute rating. I really don't know how fair that is. So, I'm going to tell you whether I liked the story, and whether the book met the expectations I set for every book I read.

The premise of the story is quite simple. Boy meets girl. They become friends. They finally fall in love and live happily ever after. Even with this rather generic premise, I liked the story due to two reasons. One, there is a major twist to this basic premise. And two, the author has done a terrific job at fleshing out the characters.

The story revolves around two main characters, Chloe and Jason, as well as their families. The big twist is that Jason is a movie superstar. While returning back to Albuquerque for a shoot, he somehow recognises local Chloe, and that is where their story starts. She really does not seem interested in dating Jason and wants to be friends. It is really interesting to read how the story goes from there to the final fairytale.

The genius of the author is in how real all the characters are, not just the main characters. Jason's family and Chloe's friends are all developed well with individual personalities that fit perfectly into the story. I loved Jason's family. They are really amazing and super-nice, and are just like every other ordinary family even though Jason is a superstar. This is what really appealed to me. Jason's sister, his niece, Chloe's best friends and mother, they all have an important role to play in the story. None of them are out of place, over the top or unnecessary.

Both Chloe and Jason have a murky past which has moulded their personalities and their lives. This is the reason why Chloe can't trust anyone. Jason's past is also the reason why he is amazingly nice and does not really act like any superstar would. I won't say what incidents shaped them, as it would give away too much of the story. But in the end, it all seems perfectly logical, as to why these two are perfect for each other.

I'm not saying the story is perfect, otherwise it would be worthy of five stars. Although the book had its twists and turns, they are never too difficult to anticipate. I just did not get that huge sense of foreboding or anticipation to know what would happen next. This is something I'd want every book to have. Maybe, it's wrong on my part to expect this from a romance novel. Who knows? But I think the author could have added something to make the story a bit more challenging.
So, let's get to the main question. Does Chloe finally get her fairytale? You'll have to read the book to find out. But I'll say this; the ending may not entirely be what you expect!

Finally, I want to say that this is a terrifically written book by an extremely talented author who really knows what she is doing. She was able to bring her characters to life, and make us feel their happiness, pain, excitement and disappointments. For this, I give the book four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Clean Contemporary Fairytale February 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I finished reading this book with tears streaming down my face; needless to say I loved it! The characters are smartly written and likeable (well most are), and come complete with real-life issues that readers of various ages will relate to. The unexpected twists and turns made it nearly impossible to put this book down. E.M. Tippetts wrote an endearing love story that I will surely recommend to my friends but I happily breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I can also gift this clean romance novel to my teen nieces as well! Without giving anything away, there's an important message conveyed in the story with which teen readers just might take to heart after reading this lovely, contemporary fairy tale.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really my fariytale, either. June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A 21-year-old virgin is pursued romantically by a hot movie star, but she's not interested.

I wanted to like this more, but it just didn't work for me. It's YA-ish, but the main character is too old for YA and she doesn't have any kind of goal that drives the story. She actually has an anti-goal. All she wants is to NOT be in a relationship. There's nothing for us to root for. Also the dialogue is too conversational, chapter titles contain spoilers, minor characters simply fall out of the story halfway through, and there are factual inaccuracies about how the criminal law system works.
